If we get 18 million for him mate it'd be fantastic business. My suspicion is the fee will be very low teens.

Wrong Mick Barca tried to get him for 14 million in this transfer window he will have a lot of takers.

But I love Alonso I love his presence on the ball and I really thought he was one of Rafas fav's I think I was wrong the lad didnt even make the bench today :( .

And I was suprised to hear he only played 18 times for us last season, he was a breath of fresh air when him and Garcia arrived along with Rafa whats gone so wrong?

He deserves a place in the team before others he understands what it means to play for the club, I would be gutted if he left.

He was one player that transformed us when we where so down in the dumps with Biscan and Diao.

Agreed Cigg id be gutted if Xabi went i know hes not been at his best for a while but i love it when hes on song he just seems to calm the play down puts his foot on the ball and as i said when hes on song hes up there with the best of them /

In an ideal world Stevie big boots would go on the right and with Masher as the main man in the middle (wait for it Mick) Rotation could be the only solution with him and Lucas depending on who and what tactics we play but  :D There should always be a place for him on the bench though i was a bit dissapointed with that one today

what :censored: me off is that we spend loads of cash on overseas players.

there are still some :censored: hot players that dont get a look in at the top clubs due to the thinking that the best players are none british.

Aaron Mclean from Peterborough United is a great player, if he was given the chance at a top club he would pay the back with a bag full of goals.

When he was at Grays Athletic it looked like his next move was  going to be in the prem, but it never happend.

what i would like to say to our club is to stop going on trips over seas and have a look around you to see what we have here.

The problem is when one club gets scouts over to look at a lower league player the rest also join and before you know it the price has rocketed to a daft amount when its sometimes cheaper to go abroad. I agree though, id like to see more british players brought in from lower league clubs not just youngsters, there are good quality established players that do the simple things but do them well.

I don't know about Aaron Mclean, but Everton have bought one or two that didn't break the bank and are decent. Lescott would get a game for us I would have thought, while Cahill is a good player as well. Andy Johnson is a better bet than Kuyt, while Jagielka is workmanlike. There are players there if you look, but nobody does anymore. Ashley Young was good buy for Villa, and I quite like Marlon King as well. Crouch wasn't a bad buy for us come to that, but there is a definate reluctance to look under your nose sometimes.

I don't think its just a case of Xabi not being on song, I think its also a case of him being sussed out by the other teams. They know he's slow, and so all they have to do is prevent him having time on the ball. Stop him getting his head up and he can't hit 40yard passes. Thats half his game gone before you start.

Then the defensive side of his game has also been tested by players now running past him. He is forced to either foul them or watch them sprint away.  Like Hyypia he gets away with it a lot of the time through good positioning and experience, but more and more often you are seeing him stretched or forced to foul.

Scott Dann a local that is better than Jack Hobbs signed for Charlton yesterday, because Ive known this lad from a kid I know he will be a good player will he evre play for Liverpool I doubt it.
Once gerrard and Carragehr leave we have no home grown players which is a worry in the long run.

Mind due none of Arsenal or Chelseas players are home grown are they?

Its down to the mind set of the top clubs, makes you think what our football in England might be like in 10 years time.

Once Agger is back and we play a higher line in defence, it will be harder for our opponents to designate a striker to mark Xabi when they lose possession. Xabi will get a little more room and will start hitting his passes again.

or at least I hope so  :D

I hate Everton with a passion everyone knows that, I hate Moyes but he has got an eye for tallent that gives you that extra.
Everton would get 15 million for Lescott how did we let him slip away?

Is it because he has a burned fod we wernt intrested?

Like it or lump it it Evertons sh!tehawlks have more passion than ours which is a worry.

All evertonains want Rafa to stay along with mancs. :kungfu:
