Would you currently be putting the word about that you maybe, just maybe looking for a new job in the Summer, or would you bank on keeping your job at Liverpool?

Or perhaps you'd be putting the word about that you'll definately be looking for a new job in the Summer, That perhaps you had no intention of going through the same bull that you've had to put up with this season?

Many (somewhat naively in my opinion) criticised the owners for even talking to prospective manegerial candidates, never mind releasing the news to the press. Would those same people think the manager is justified if indeed he is quietly whispering in a few ears, and if he is or was or has, does anybody at the club know about it?

No Mick, Benitez SHOULD be met with the same response if he spoke to other clubs, and if he announced he had, I don't think the fans would tollerate anything other than him being removed as soon as possible.

Interesting thread you have started, well done lad

4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Funny thing is though John, I wouldn't blame him for having a litle whisper here and there just in case. I really do think that it goes on all the time in football, and he'd be a fool to think his job was 100% secure at the moment in my view. I wouldn't be happy if he'd already agreed to go anywhere, but testing the water through intermediaries just in case would be no more than sensible in my view.

Not for me Mick. He's already under pressure to perform after his "misunderstanding" with Tom and Jerry (better known as George but the way they've ran the club I think cartoons are a fair assestment of them) so I don't think he has any ground to go and test the water. Also I think he'd lose all respect from the fans, who have backed him through this difficult time with the owners. The fans lost respect because of them admitting to talking to Klinsmann (along with other factors i.e. stadium) but the whole affair of them talking to Klinsmann triggered the real hatred towards them. For Benitez to come out and admit he'd spoken to another club, he'd lose the respect of the fans, and god alone knows where that would put us.

The owners' justification for speaking to Klinnsmann was that they believed Rafa might have walked.

I don't think he would have done, based on his comments at the time. He couldn't have been more clear; 'I want to stay, I love the club, I do not want to leave, I want to be here for a long time etc...'

I think it's also worth distinguishing between meeting a prospective manager and openly discussing what role they could potentially play, and whispering to an agent who would simply confirm whether or not that manager was available. I don't really have a problem with the latter (as long it's justified and doesn't appear in the media), but it's academic anyway given their eventual justification for trying to secure Klinnsmann was that they believed Rafa would walk.

G&H took the former option, I don't think it was a justifiable course of action, and that's not because it was Klinnsmann. I'd have taken the same view, irrespective of who they approached. Solving their communication difficulties with Rafa was the obvious solution, and most appropriate course of action.

Anyhoo, that's done and dusted.

In answer to the question, I wouldn't put the word about that I may be available.

Should he leave at the end of the season, I can't imagine he'd be in any great rush to return straight away, especially given the stresses this season have presented him.

A sabbatical would probably be likely, a re-assessment of life, where you want to live, what's best for your family etc.

Everyone knows Benitez wouldn't of walked. He is waiting to be sacked because if he is, there's a reported 6 million pay off the yanks have to give. So Benitez walking will never happen. It's win-win for him, remain manager get paid, get sacked and get a fat wad of doe.

rafas child speaks scouse he dont want to leave be sad day when/if it comes which i think it will in summer and no i dont blame him ffs he has a life and kids to feed g00d luck to him.

Way i see it if you was in a job and you was on a contact and you thought that contact might get finished with.
You would look else where for back ups but this is the problem with what G&H did they have made rafa feel like he is going and once your mind wanders fromt he job you can never do that job 100% ever agian.
Unless they totaly back him from this point on and i meen they better get there bum licking tools on.

How is it Different than what happened to Houllier (apart from Hicks telling the world). Liverpool approached Mourinho before Porto's game against the mancs. I would also presume they approached Rafa before the end of the same season. What you don't do is go broadcasting the fact before the deal is struck (Bit like Ince being photographed in the mancs kit before he was transfered)

I am pretty sure Rafa has spoken to chairmen at other clubs (or at least his agent has)Does anyone think that Gerrard wasn't tapped up by Chelsea? Its the same with managers, a quiet chat, a nod and a wink etc and then if the offer and the timing is right, another manager asks for a new contract or he will be leaving. There is nothing like negotiating with the strength of another offer in your back pocket. While it may not be quite ethical I don't see any real problem with that. Maybe I am too cynical but I think it happens all the time.

The problem where managers are concerned is when they abuse their position because they know they are leaving a club.

I wouldn't p!ss on a manager like that if he was on fire.

Was it in september or october there was press reports of Rafa going to Munich or Milan?

I believe his agent planted the story not just this season its happened a few seasons now, just to get Rafa a bigger deal and himself some more cash.

I think G & H got wind of this and thats why they had other managers in mind.

But under no circumstances do you give an interview with the local papaer the Liverpool Echo and say yer Jurgen came round for dinner on thanx giving

Madness.

Of course Rafa will be looking for another job if he hasnt already agreed to one, the vultures will be circling our players as we speak.

I also think Gerrard will be gone at the end of the season.

Well I'm a Plumber Mick and was working for this company, quite frankly it was ran like G&H are running our club. A f.ucking shambles, the company and its employers were getting a bad name because the managers and admin couldnt organise a pi$$ up in a brewery. I had enough of it, it was c.rap and the morale amongst the other Plumbers was low, people werent getting paid on time, overtime and all that s.hit.

So I decided like most people in the world would do, start looking for another job on the quiet, if one comes along. And one did that paid more money, closer to home and was an organised firm. I thought f.uck that I'm out of here. Now my working enviroment is much much better, closer to home and more money !

Personally I couldnt blame Rafa for putting the word out, what kind of manager would want to work with these two muppets, its obviously hard going with them over the pond all the time.

If I was him, loaded like he was I wouldnt worry about finding another job just yet, maybe I'd take a year out relax and vacate to some of the nicest spots on earth.

Some people here always seem to disregard this fact.....

Maybe its time i also play the devils advocate (bigmick shouldn't be the only one who does this.... :p)

Lets say....the reason why rafa keeps picking kuyt....picking voronin, trying his best not to make crouch go on a scoring run.....
could it be that he might be trying to get the sack ?

No wait....don't jump on me yet....i am just saying this could be a possibility right ?  :Oo:
