Winger

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We need a clever quick winger. not easy, but has to be a priority. Kewell's best days are gone. Pennant is not good enough in the long run and Benayoun is not a winger. A Robben, Ronaldo kind of player is needed. Babel has potential but is very raw at the moment. Not sure who out there would fit the bill. Think we are probably out of it this season.

Babel shouldnt play on left as his right footed and will always come inside.

Quresma would a good signing.  He has plenty of skill and the unpredictable factor.

And now we have gone full circle and reverted back to the latter days of last season by creating topics and debates about needing a winger. I thought Babel and benayoun were those solutions?

not really when babel seems to prefer a more central role and yossi has never been a winger.  He drifts inside all the time.  It may have been the solution for Rafa but if so it was the wrong one.

I thought we went for them when we could not get our primary targets for whatever reason. Babel can be great but needs time.

i agree with this

these are the reasons why at home this season we have been so toothless and dropped so many points

teams come here and defend and we havent got wingers with the quality to carve teams up, gerrard cant do it by himself and torres needs the service from the midfielders

I reckon we should go for joaquin...his "boxoffice" has dimmed somewhat since going to valencia. I think we might be able to get him for about 10 million.....

Still think joaquin is one of the most naturally talented RWs in the world now....

I hope not. He is mr inconsistent and seems to get moody and disappear from games where he is put under pressure. So sadly i think he would be even worse in the PL than he is for Valencia.

great i can't wait for brain dead penant to come back.

a guy who is talented but is not a clever footballer...which is what we need.

not too many thinkers in the team that way they think rafa is a genius.

We really do need a top class winger.  I would love it if we could raid Valencia in January.  They are having a lot of problems right now and it would be easy to lure some of their players away.  I think Joaquin or Silva would be great.  Another obvious choices would be Mancini or Quaresma.

Maybe its just me..but bellamy would have made an awesome RW...if he had stayed...

1)He is super fast
2)He can take on players
3)He can score goals
4)He is realtively good scoring from headers...

Could give ronaldo a run for his $$$.....(i am not being sarcastic here)...
