World cup draw - Happy?

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

What did you think of the world cup draw?

I think the British and Irish teams all got reasonable draws and all have a chance of top two spot (although Wales probably longest chances)

England V Croatia again should be good , I don't know if the Ukraine are much good but as mentioned earlier I think eastern European football under valued here so could be dangerous.

Ireland are really against Bulgaria for second spot - don't imagine the Italians are losing much sleep.

Let the preparation begin! :buttrock

Andorra aside the away trips for England are all suspect. WTF are Khazarkstan doing in the European region of the draw ? ! surely they're closer to Asia than Europe ? . I think the timetable for some of these away games will be significant, don't fancy playing in Belarus, Ukraine etc in mid winter. :(

FIFA should force the USSR and Yugoslavia to reunite.

Their break-ups caused too many teams to be formed.

They use "FYR" at Greece's demand.

Greece feel that the name "Macedonia" implies sovereignty over a part of northern Greece also called Macedonia.

Ireland got an okay draw but it was good to see Steve Staunton get a new job so quickly

Not a bad draw for England, then again we thought that of the Euro 2008 group..............

ENGLAND
Croatia - lost home and away in Euro 2008 qualifiers. Head to head is 2-1 to Croatia in competitive matches
Ukraine - not disimilar to Russia, reached the 2006 World Cup QFs.
Belarus - shouldn't be any more testing than Georgia, Estonia, Macedonia etc
Kazakhstan - not up to much
Andorra - played twice, beaten twice and eight goals for to zero against

The biggest worry is the qualifying format, two defeats could spell a spot in the luck of the draw play-off. I much prefer the two from six or seven type format. We have to win the group, home matches should be ok but our qualification could rest on results away to Croatia and Ukraine
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
