Henchoz and hamann - In fairness....

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

these 2 players seem to have lost a bit of reds support last season. henchoz is not the fastest player, but as stu sumtimes sez, he was one of those players, that when the tactics were changed to accommodate more attacking options, he suffered, as thats not playing him to his strengths.having him up the field, on the the halfway, trying to scamper back as teams break away, is stupid.he's not this type of player.he suits the defensive system, which i dont want to play, and neither do most of us by the sounds of it. the same for hamann.
what do we do. they're still brilliant players.ask michael owen, he reckons the hardest palyer to play against is henchoz.
its becoming so blatant that we need a little bit of pace at the back, to accommdate trying to get forward a bit more. its so obvious to see that certain players looked worse under a different system, rather than the one they excelled in for some time, cos the system dint accommodate their strengths.
what do you's reckon?
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

it's hamann's last season of his contract so he should honour it, be thanked for his service and then move on.

as for henchoz, he is now our fifth striker after his wonder strike against celtic. he's now officially scored more goals than diouf in the last year. :D

Henchoz is one of the Premierships most underrated defenders and the best goalkeeper Thierry Henry has ever faced :D :D :D

Hamann is to any fan who has witnessed his excellent distrubution and his ball winning challenges the consumate professional ,and the ultimate holding midfielder and has been for the last few years  :D :D :D I cant understand any fan who undermines his importance to the team

he is the one who's reputation has suffered cos of how good gerrard played in sh**  team. hamann is class.
it seemed like all of a sudden, houllier said to his team, (who up until then had mastered the defensive team game)

"right lads, we're gonna play attackin footy now.

henchoz and hamann (and a few others probably) went "eh?"

houllier wouldn't know attacking football if it jumped up and bit him in the face, just ask michael owen. :(

I also  understand peoples train of thought as to why he should move on next year if Liverpool are to play more progressive football, but for the present time he provides us with a solidity in midfield and should be retained

Biscan's attributes are still debatable his tackling is shoddy and over zealous
and his forays up field over ambitious and he is prone to loose possession .
I consider Biscan a useful utility player but never a 1st team regular
thats why its essential we use Hamann for the time being unless we get a quality  player capable of  Stepping into Didi's accomplished boots and i mean quality :D :D :D Xabi Alonso :D maybe ?

I think Hamman is mont player, he isn't the fastest and doesn't get credit for the job he does, basically Gerrard gets the limelight for a lot of work that Didi does (even though SG does deserve it)

Henchoz is a great defender but the lad lacks pace and I tihkn that could be his downfall over the next season or two ???

Hamann is typical of those type of players you don't miss till their out for a few games and the stats don't lie.......when Hamann doesn't play invariably LFC don't win !!!

That imo was more down to the team's tacitcs relying to much on individuals to do certain jobs as apost to a team having an individual purpose.

You watch Arsenal and they can lose any player and still look the same side where as Liverpool had a specific player for a specific job.

We weren't performing as a team in other words so we missed quality individuals more.

Good point Stu.

However we could have players such as Murphy, Rise , Kewell and even Gerrard at times and still win the majority of our games with them missing, the same can;'t be said when hamaann's missing but your point about qwuality in depth is valid ............

Walk on :D

Good one stmichael....

Hamann is good but is a wee bit slow and this is beginning to show up more and more now. I thought he was the unsung hero of Germany's run to the 2002 W-Cup finals while Ballack grabbed the headlines for his goalscoring and passing exploits.

We still need more pace yet with steele in midfield.

We don't need steel at all. We have plenty in Gerrard.

We need guile, creativety, flair, technique and a player with decent work rate.

We also need goals and a right winger who can beat a man and cross a ball and has good technical attributes.
