Liverpool v marseille - Reaction to 0:1

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

That quite frankly was the worst performance I've seen during Rafa's reign and beyond. Had it been a case of rotation from a good performing league side then I think the complaints would be less vociferous but the reality is that we have been playing shite  since the Derby game and Rafa is getting it wrong.
The rotation is degrading any cohesiveness that the players may have, the balance of the team is wrong and our game plan is more about what the other team is going to do.

The sands of time under Rafa's feet are starting to shift and the longer he persists with rotation and worrying more about the other teams tactics than our own the quicker that sand is gonna shift from under his feet.

I disagree daws, Benitez made two mistakes, he should have included Kuyt and Torres and he should have put in benayoun on the left, pennant on the right.

Leto is awful.

Erm......

         Pennant was suspended.. :no

Sabre I want to quote you from the other topic mate.

I don't think Rafa thinks Sissoko is at the same level of Mascherano or Alonso or Gerrard to be honest.

Fact is that today's team was weaker than our standard team. This was the classic configuration that made us drop points in away games last season and the season before. If you have all your strong players then you can put a strong team every game, but if Alonso is injured and you want Mascherano 100% against Tottenham (just played 3 matches in a week) then you'll have to play a weakened team.

Today was a cráp game, which shouldn't serve the purpose of saying Rafa is núts or shí.te.

Every single pundit in England every single ex player or manager even souness gave Rafa abuse tonight with this rotation lark.
When A team is on a winning streak it builds confidence, the same goes for strikers only for them to put in a great performance and dropped to the bench the next game.

Infact no one I know, all the ex-players even those that have played for Liverpool Rush, Daggers etc, ex managers cannot figure out why he rotates the team so much.

Its not normal its not what we are used to its alien its like the players are robots and not humans programmed to do as he says when he says.

He has an excellent squad of players at his dissposal now he should use them in the correct fashion.
It is his mistakes, and he needs to be more ruthless to the players at half time, and put the shits up them like Fergie does.

I cant say I was that crazy about us being in the CL this season TBH because it takes our focus of the prem, but we needed to get through to atleast the group stage.

Them Yanks will be furious if the revenue doesnt come back.
Look at Mourhino and he got results playing shite atleast Rafa was in safe hands with Moores we havent got a clue about what the Yanks will want.

And p.s. sorry if I make loads of typing errors tonight as all the paint is missing from my keyboard letters.

My team made me feel ashamed today. Outclassed at home by a struggling French league side. Our best players looked ordinary, and our worst (Sissoko) would struggle to get in a pub team on that display. Basic controlling of a football seemed to be beyond most of them for most of the game. All the more frustrating because in the last 5 minutes they suddenly discovered the urgency that would have blown Marseille away if it had been there from the start. I hope Benitez has got what it takes to produce a capable 11 by Saturday, otherwise the knock to confidence could wreck the whole season.

I play on saturdays and have found it real hard to play when fasting.  i feel ill and just struggle through.   players at the top level do really well to play while fasting.

Sissoko wasn't fasting, I dont think he fasts on match days either! Its no excuse

Not an excuse just pointing it out, I remember reading an interview with him last year about how he struggled with fasting on the run up to a game. Ah well.

Leto should not have played, Carling cup only for him till next year, torres and crouch should never partner up again.  Ever.

Without Pennant on the right hand side you lose all overlapping play, making Finnan useless going forward.  (and yes I know he was banned, its an observation)

Steve went missing for alot of the match and momo only popped up to put in a :censored: pass or head the ball back to marseille.

Rubbish, but then the only good game recently was Reading and even then we didnt look right.

he doesnt have it in him to play attacking football.  i have said plenty of times that playing against liverpool is easy.  just make us play in front and ask us to break them down.  we struggle to do it.  credit to l'om though as they didnt just defend.  they played some nice stuff.  let the ball do the work.

TBF no one can point the finger at Leto he was out of his depth it wasnt his fault the manager thought he could slot right in when he obviously couldnt.

Sissoko gave the ball away all night another fact that Mascherano, Gerrard and Alonso have pushed him out the team, the fella has zero confidence.

Its tentamount on ruining players this rotation business.
