My observations for what they're worth. The penalty never was. Arbeloa holds onto the shirt of Kanu as leverage to stop himself going erse over tit. Try and stretch your own foot up and touch a point high up on the wall, chances are you'll grab hold of the back of the setee as you go. Totally innocent, not a foul, didn't affect Kanu at all and yet another ridiculous decision against us. Thankfully Reina did the business and justice was done.

As for the performance I think some are being a little harsh as we actually started fairly well. We have the look of exactly what we are in my view, a slightly over-rotated team. EITHER, Gerrard or Torres (our two best players IMHO) should have started the game. Not really bothered which, but either one would have given us a bit of zip and my suspicion is we would have been in front by now as thankfully Portsmouth don't really look wound up for it.

One of the two should come on to remedy the selectorial silliness as soon as possible, and then all things being equal as long as Portsmouth don't awake from their slumber we should have plenty enough in the locker to win the game without too much problem. I actually think we aren't playing too bad, we just lack a bit of a cutting edge and are glaringly short on pace. If we must go into games without both Torres and Gerrard (and I would suggest that barring injuries we probably mustn't but perhaps that's just me) then we probably should play Babbel as he does provide a bit of a turbo boost. All in all though, not a bad first half and we just need a goal.

Laws of Football mate, you can not do that.

I think it's obvious we need to put on Torres or Gerrard (or both) as we're not doing too well going forward.

What I'm saying is that I won't be happy if they're only brought on with 10 or 15 minutes left.
