Rafa fights back - Echo

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

It is not the Liverpool way to moan about decisions that don't go our way

Maybe it should be our new way.

Being the "good guys" can simply make it easier for others to screw us over.

Maybe a new attitude and approach is needed.

Spot on.
Maybe it is time for us to fight much harder for ourselves, both on and off the pitch.

Fair play, Rafa! :bowdown

Im really glad Rafa has had a bit of a moan. Something has obviously gone on in that meeting and i think this was the perfect opportunity to bring up a couple of other issues. If nothing more, the FA may think twice now when they have us in mind.

Rafa has shown that he is not willing to just sit and let things happen behind the scenes.

He might get into trouble for some of his comments but who cares, needed to be said.

destro wrote:Mixed feelings about this for me, on one hand its good he has come out and spoken about what has been happening for far to long, as others have said Fergie and lately Maureen have had a go at them and it seems to have worked in their favour.

The other side is it seems a bit nit picky, already I have had knobs in work saying  you didn't moan when you got in the Champions League without finishing in the top four, blah, blah Mascherano, blah, blah getting a reff suspended ( that one made me laugh ), Im guessing that the F.A will no doubt want to speak to Rafa about what he has said, I just wish he would of arranged a meeting with them and told them to their faces instead of letting them read it in a Newspaper.

Agree mate.

I'd deffo have preffered if he had gone through the proper channels instead of using the media.

I've had (and still do have) some misgivings about him as a manager but the one quality I've always liked was the class in which he handles himself when dealing with the press and tw@ts like Mourinho and Fergusan. This seems definitely out of character. A lot of what he said was true but why do we need to emulate the antics (whinging and such) of Wenger, Mourinho etc? Not the Liverpool way.

Having said that, a lot of the points that he's brought up ARE valid and needs to be brought to the fore. If he's raised these concerns with the FA before through the proper channels and did not get a proper response... then he's probably right to use the media.....

I just wished that it could have been done a little differently.

fair enough rafa has had a moan, he has the right to.....he's had a tough week with the styles drama and now this in a short period of time.

im sure if the two incidents were weeks apart he would have acted more calmly. but he is right about the away/early fixtures and someone needed to say it. that bit was spot on.

maybe should have left the mascha bit out......and if gill made claims like that im glad its out in the public....
bottom line is rafa  doesn't have to explain himself to anyone over this, and i dont want this to be the start of a "new-look" bitch1ng manager, im sure it won't be.
rafa has more integrity in his little finger then some of the other managers knockin about. everyone has a bad day. not everyone has a mic shoved in their face on a bad day.

I'm fed up with managers and players moaning all the time claiming the world is against them.

Just get on with it.

I like him showing a bit of fight some of his comments may seem alittle out there but the odd out burst of passion is good.

In Raffa i trust

Well a much overused expression "he's gone to a better place now" - well anywhere has to be better than old trafford

About bloddy time someone spoke up.. I too have been thinking why we get such a rwa deal woth the fixtures and the kick off times.. well said boss.. people need to speak out against the clowns that run the league :angry:Rafa Benitez has hit out at the number of early kick-offs Liverpool are being forced to play.
The Spaniard is frustrated that his side will have to contest four early kick-offs before December, including this weekend's tricky trip to Sunderland which comes after 15 of his players were away on international duty.

The Reds also face lunch-time visits to Portsmouth, Newcastle and Everton in the coming months.

"On Saturday we will go to play another away game with an early kick-off after internationals in midweek," said Benitez.

"We have four of these games before December. Last year we had 10 or 12 of them. We had to play eight away games after Champions League matches.

"When you play on Wednesday, you must play on a Sunday - you cannot play on a Saturday. If you look at last season, a lot of teams were playing Tuesday and then Sunday, but we were playing Wednesday and Saturday.

"This season we have early kick-offs at places like Newcastle and Portsmouth – but then if we don't win people will wonder why our away form is not consistent.

"I want to be treated the same as the other teams regarding early kick-offs."  Rafa
