i live by it.

ok, this game thingy. ive basically just bunged all my fave players at the top in no order, cant wait to see what happens!!!

the way i see it, if u pick 20 gks first, then your first choice striker will only be your 21st choice player overall, get me?

therefore, if u pick cms last, then your top cm would only be like your 200th choice overall!

Sh'it , that raises an interesting point. I picked 20+ goalies allowing for a sub and some possibly not being available come the draw . In fact going with Dawsino's point, assuming it's 18 teams we should be picking in order of preference

36CBs
18LBs
18RMs
36CMs
18LMs
36FWs

and finally with three subs allowed (think the times said 1 Gk/Def, 1 Mid and 1 FW)

54 subs.

When it's filled up i think ace can bring the draw forward.

Me an all...its a f**kin nightmare for the indecisive

Im just lobbing all the ones that i think are good as high up as poss. Then its a case of whittling those in the highest ranks to suit. Some of these lower down ive never heard of, so...Bound to miss out on a few gems eh.

Ace couldn't someone just show their list up on here so as we can get a rough gauge as to how they've gone about it? I mean its going to make no odds to the luck of the draw anyway, isnt it? No value in copying their list ad verbatum anyway....or is there.

If you put 20 Goalkeepers at the top you WILL NOT get a squad made up of goalkeepers. The position catagories are defined, meaning that the draw-processor will pick you a keeper, 4 defenders (2 central, 1 left, 1 right), 4 midfielders (2 central, 1 left, 1 right) and 2 forwards. You will also get some subs.

If the processor designates that you will get first choice in, for instance, forwards, this mean that you will get the highest ranked forwad on YOUR list. You will not get a player from any other position, even if it is above the first forward on your list.

With 18 league members, everyne will get either 1st choice player in any one position, or a 2nd and a 3rd choice player in two other positions. We should all get good players. You don't have to have your list looking like:

GK
LD
CD
CD
RD
LM
CM
CM
RM
FW
FW

or anything like that. Just look down your list and make sure that your favourite player are at the top, and that the leagues' worst (eg: Bramble, Neville, Neville, etc...) are at the bottom. But even if someone else gets frst pick, that doesn't necessarily mean that you won't get one in the very same field. Here's an example of what I mean. I don't know what anyone else's list looks like, but say that me, Woof and Dawson have ranked forwards as the following:

The Ace1983: woof woof !: dawson99:
Drogba (4) Tevez (7) Crouch (15)
Crouch (7) Drogba (21) Keane (16)
Torres (11) Torres (22) Drogba (89)
Tevez (130) Keane (43) Torres (101)
McCarthey (217) Kuyt (56) Kuyt (103)

The numbers indicate where they are positioned in our lists. Now, say I get first pick in forwards. I would get Drogba. Now say Dawson got second pick. Although Keane is the second player on his list, because I hadn't taken the top player on his list, Crouch, he would get Crouch. And if Woof went next, he would get Tevez, and not Torres who lies third in his list. Think of it like picking a team for a kickabout at lunchtime when you were at school. You are the captain, but your mate Jeff gets first pick. You really want Dave on your team, so obviously, if Jeff picks Dave, you can't pick him too. But when Jeff picks Phil, you can still pick Dave. Get it?

So, in conclusion, you don't have to list your players in any particular order. If someone gets first choice in any particular field, that does not always mean that you will not get your first choice. Everything will become clear the day after the draw when the processor has assigned us our teams. If anyone has seriously cocked up, we can sort it out then, but you all seem like moderatly intelligent people so I'm sure we'll be ok.

That's exactly what you should be doing. Simple as that.

My list looks something like:

1. Gerrard (cm)
2. lampard (cm)
3. Carragher (cd)
4. Ronaldo (rm)
5. Terry (cd)
6. Drogba (fw)
7. Reina (gk)
8. Cech (gk)
9. Toure (cd)
10. Finnan (rb)
11. Torres (fw)

Even if I get my first choice in every catagory, this does not mean that my team will look like this:

. Reina Cech
.Finnan
. Toure Carragher Terry
.Ronaldo
. Gerrard Lampard
. Torres Drogba

I will not get first pick in every field anyway, but the datatbase will sort it all out. Have faith in the wonders of science [sic].
