Grayghost - Adam asked you a simple question - "What site?"

Your answer is  "message board on the original site" - on behalf of newbies reading this & others - what on earth are you referring to? Dont be shy - Spit it out, mate!

Nice design from Croatia.

This one I like.

Very functional, relatively easy to expand, the stands look close to the pitch, flexible and visually striking.

Liverpool are set to unveil plans that will make their new stadium the biggest in British club football. The initial capacity is set to be 60,000 but the eventual aim is the high seventies - beating the total of 76,000 fans who can fit into Manchester United's ground. (Sunday Mirror)

From BBC Gossip page - reported in the Sunday Mirror:
"Liverpool are set to unveil plans that will make their new stadium the biggest in British club football. The initial capacity is set to be 60,000 but the eventual aim is the high seventies - beating the total of 76,000 fans who can fit into Manchester United's ground."

A fitting home for the greatest club in the world I think, I am starting to believe that Hicks and Gillett are really aiming to put Liverpool back at the very pinnacle of World football. Smashing our transfer record, more signings to come and now this.....if it is true this would be a huge for us, and really forward thinking too.
60,00 with room to expand shows long term thinking and that has to be good news for us.

Reds Plan Bigger Stadium

By DH
Date: 8/7/2007

Liverpool are set to announce plans to upgrade their new 60,000 stadium and make the capacity even bigger than Old Trafford. American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett were aware of the proposed new stadium well before they bought the club...

....however they now realise the original capacity will not be big enough to satisfy a city hungry for footballing success.

That expansion will eventually make the stadium bigger than Old Trafford Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks said: "The city council's planners will receive the final plans on July 25."

"The initial capacity will be the 60,000 previously approved, but the design will accommodate an eventual capacity in the high seventies."

Manchester United can fit 76,000 fans into Old Trafford but further expansion would be difficult, so the news that Liverpool are planning an 80,000 all-seated stadium, which would dwarf that of their biggest rivals will only delight Anfield fans.

from what ive read there will be a planning application put forward whilst the stadium is being built to take the capacity to something like 66k, doing it this way will save money and time and it will not effect the completion date.

lets hope we hear something this week and get a look at the thing proper because untill we do we might just hate the fooker :D

Liverpool are set to unveil plans for Britain's biggest football stadium.

Owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett will submit a new design to the local council later this month which would see the current 60,000-capacity plans expanded to a new stadium accommodating 80,000 people.

The American billionaires hope to move to the new £250 million stadium at Stanley Park in 2009.

Hicks admitted the new plans could see Liverpool's new home dwarf the 76,000 capacity at Old Trafford, the home of bitter rivals Manchester United.

"The city council's planners will receive the final plans on July 25th," Hicks told the Sunday Mirror newspaper.

"The initial capacity will be the 60,000 previously approved, but the design will accommodate an eventual capacity in the high 70s."

Hicks ordered a review of the club's plans for a new stadium soon after gaining control at Anfield alongside Gillett in February.

American architects drew up the revised plans which will be sent to planning officers at the council offices at Millennium House.

The site at Stanley Park is just 300 yards away from Anfield, which has been the Reds' home for 114 years.

The stadium will include facilities for education, sport and community activities along with a fully restored Stanley Park.

Liverpool received the go-ahead for the project from the city council for the initial 60,000 stadium in September last year.

They better reveal the design before the 21st July

Because after that date, Manhattan will be on his self-imposed "message board exile" to avoid spoilers until I finish the last Harry Potter book.

Personally Manhattan wants to see a work of art. A timeless monument. A new Colosseum.

Instead of a "Reebok Emirates Concrete Bowl".

In my opinion, in leaving Anfield you're losing your soul. You've got to realise that in English football LFC are unique, Anfield is unique and should remain unique. Who needs a LFC losing their popular background in the same way as some other English clubs did? Anfield has always been THE cathedral of English football. Why move to just another money-making den deprived of spirit or soul, however comfortable and luxurious it may be? When you're a LFC fan, who needs comfort and luxury?

never a truer word spoken, well said lad

it will be heartbreaking to leave anfield, no matter how good the new stadium is, anfield is full of ghosts as far as i am concerned, full of memories from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's and they will all be lost. when i remember certain times its hard to put into words what they meant and felt like, even looking back at old footage and pictures shows how special it is.

but i suppose with progress sacrifices need to be made

I'm trying not to think too much about the new stadium.
I remember last year, when there was similar anticipation for the return of Adidas as our kit maker. When they eventually revealed it, there was a sense of disappointment. It will probably be the same with the stadium. It won't be as good as we imagined, it won't be as good as any hoax pictures, it will be more or less like any other "modern" new stadium and it will probably have shitty little collars that are neither use nor ornament. :D
