tevez off to utd.... big big blow to all other prem. sides... man utd are looking like an unstoppable force with the players they have atm...
back to liverpool... i think that with the improvements the other top clubs in the leaue are making
MANUTD (hargreaves, Nani, anderson, tevez ? )
Chelsea (Alex, pizzaro, sidwell, dani alves? malouda? ) ( if tevez moves to manutd u can bet ur as.s theyll make a bg signing)

we only brought in torres who is a major imrovement but are bound to lose some of the players who were an important part of our squad last season (zenden, gonzales, bellamy, fowler)
i dont think voronin will have a significant impact and can only see him as a backup player...

we need to sign a winger or two to try and bridge the gap because if the tevez to manutd news is true... that gap just got a bit bigger...

i think we can use the defenders we have at the club for next season...they have shown how good they can be for quite a few seasons now and a change isnt as much a need as some make it out to be...right now we need to put all the budget we have left to sign top quality wingers imo... quaresma and mancini would seriously make us look like title contenders imo... if we can sign those 2 players... we'll have the best midfield in the world imo and will push mnutd and chelsea all the way...

gillete and hicks.... show some balls and fork out 35 mill or so to sign the pair...

[I]

You are 100% right they are the same type of player, only tevez is BETTER than Rooney.

We finally get to spend top quality dollar on a world class player and the Mancs are throwing it about like they're printing it :veryangry

May this please be Papertrash

Please!!!!!

1- Who do we need?

2- Who is potentially available?

3- Who can we afford?

To work out who you need you look at your best XI and see where you can improve. Then do the same with the second string

1ST XI

GK Reina
LB Riise
CB Agger
CB Carragher
RB Finnan
LM Kewell?
CM Gerrard
CM Xabi Alonso
RM Pennant?
CF Kuyt
CF Torres

Pretty good, wingers the obvious question marks. We COULD improve on other players but you sort out your weakest links first (which was the lack of goals) Kewell may be our best LM option, we either give him a go or replace him. Pennant perhaps deserves a bigger question mark. We could improve that XI by playing Gerrard right, even if some don't like the idea he is better than Pennant, and playing Mascherano in the middle

SECOND XI

GK Carson
LB Aurelio
CB Hyypia
CB Paletta
RB Arbeloa
LM Gonzalez
CM Sissoko
CM Mascherano
RM Anderson??
CF Crouch
CF Bellamy/Voronin

Not even sure who you'd play RM with the second string, perhaps that is clear indication we need to sign one and make Pennant second choice. That second XI is ok, I reckon we'd best say thanks and bye to Sami and bring in a young and quick CB to compete with Agger to partner Carra. I am unconvinced by Sissoko but you can give him time, the reserve strikers does not fill me with confidence that if Torres was injured we wouldn't be in trouble

I could speculate on who to sign, who is available is anyone if the price is right and who can we afford should depend on whether they are worth their fee ie we should spend £20m on a player if that player is good enough and we need them, we should not only sign third raters because we can 'afford' them. We have been a tad guilty of signing players for around £4m-£8m in the past who aren't quite good enough, it can be as much of a waste as spending £15m on a player who doesn't work out

Thats exactly what I was thinking, just where is this money coming from?  75-80 million, they havent off-loaded anyone and they´ve already got an almighty wage bill at the end of every week........ Scary stuff.   :(

They reckon Anderson and a Nani for Ronaldo cost £30m combined - not sure how you have a combined fee when it involved three clubs. Hargreaves was reportedly £17m to make it £47m already and Tevez for maybe £20m to make it £67m. They have had two ticket price increases at old toilet, around 15% a time, but maybe the glaziers are going to spend, spend, spend to buy lots of success before clearing off and leaving the mancs to follow lids and forest into the third tier of English football...................................

I read somewhere that they need to make £80mill profit ever year just to pay the intrest on the £600mill loan they had to buy the club in the first place.
