I reckon I'm not on me own either so if you must pontificate, prevaricate or whatever else you want to do, then do it by PM please.
And before somebody says "well if you don't want to read it then don't" please consider that if I didn't want to read it I'd have to log off, because it is beginning to infect thread after thread. This is a football forum, not a forum where we all prove how clever we are (well unless you do so by your footie insight if you get my drift).
As an aside and to throw my two penneth in on the particular point about us possibly signing Bent or Forlan I'll say this; It really is the hieght of silliness on a football discussion forum to have a go at people for being paranoid or panicking for voicing their pinion as to what they would feel IF we signed such and such a player. That's kind of the whole point of a discussion forum. If you don't want to voice an opinion on a player or the state of the clubs finances, or how well we'll do with the squad we've assembled until we've actually signed all the players in question, then I strongly suggest you don't log on here for a few months.
This is the silly season and it's all quite good fum if you enter into the spirit of the thing. Welsh Wizard, his Uncle Albert, Leon with his "we've just signed Henry" wind-ups and the like are part of the fabric of the forum. It's tradition that at this time of the year everyone talks b0ll0cks. We comment on transfer rumours which have been picked up off the milkman, we slash our wrists over news that Gerrard has bought a house in Tuscany, we sign suicide notes when rafa bumps into the Real president in the Madrid KFC and is photographed doing so, it's al part of the game. Why do we bother? well because there's no football on and because it's quite good fun and because if we're truthful, we ain't got anything better to do.
So I ask again this pack of people who patrolling the forum right now with dictionary in hand, lighten up a bit. If you want to deal purely in facts, then consider that since the window opened we haven't made a major signing while the team that won the Premiership have spent 50 million squid. People are bound to be uneasy, and then when we are rumoured to be considering a guy who was a flop at the aforementioned club, that'll crank up the unease some more. Ultimately though, it'll all come out in the wash so enjoy the ride, or go into hibernation for a couple of months.

I know he's not up there in star quality with your Villa's, Eto'o's and Torres of this world but he is a good footballer.
I have only seen him live fleetlingly, but when I have I have to say he has not done much wrong. Just because he plays for a small team and doesn't have a vowel at the end of his name, does not make him a bad player.
If would be nice to see a bit more English backbone in our squad as well.
If Rafa went for Bent, I would be very happy.

Its supposed to be a football forum not a debating society
s@int wrote:Its supposed to be a football forum not a debating society. Occasionally people fall out but hopefully soon move on and forget all about it. This quibbling over words is not only boring but kills any chance of real football discussion. If someone posts a cr@ppy rumour with no substance, at the very least it gives people an opportunity to discuss the player, and whether they would like him to come. I am not saying people should make a habit of it, but the odd unconfirmed rumour does no harm in my opinion.
