I do see the ads by google line above the no. of members browsing this topic.

Dont worry bout SS. I dont see them either. I see the line of adverts by google etc that you see, but not the other ones. I have norton anti virus on my computer, maybe thats why I dont get them. As someone said earlier thay are under the 1st three posts of every thread, under the date, I still dont get those. Thank god.............

I've got them above members the no. of members and I've got them on the first 3 posts of every page.

well if this is what it takes for chris to pay the bills for running the site then so be it. he isn't running a charity for us lot after all.

anyway, i've started to get used to them and my mind just filters them out and i'd certainly rather look at adverts than a monthly subscription bill  :)

Well why doesnt Chris just take on two jobs and do loads of overtime, and a few night shifts and sell his car and house and live in a flat that should raise a bit of cash  :D

Like I said in my PM to supersub:

If you or any of the membership can think of other ideas to raise regular ongoing revenue I am very much open to suggestions and would happily reduce/remove the ads if alternatives ideas can be found.

The ads aren’t working they are not raising any real revenue to help with the running costs of the site.

How would you all feel about contributing a £1 a month to the site?

To be honest I think the site would be closed in less than 12 months if we had to pay a fee. No new members would join, many established members would leave, and then you would get a slow drawn out death as more and more decide to go elsewhere. It would also cause problems with the Mods, if they warn or ban someone now its not a problem, do the same to someone paying money and it becomes a big problem.

A better idea might be a raffle/football comp every month. 1/ it would be optional , 2/ People love a gamble 3/new members would still join 4/we wouldn't lose half the membership the first month.

I have seen other forums die trying to introduce fees of less than £1pm. Lots of people say they will support it at first, but in a short while its dead.

Sorry to sound so negative, but I would look at alternatives first mate.

LFC

Why don't you contact Carlsberg or Adidas for sponsorship? Don't talk to the marketing people, just go straight to the regional MDs. I would even consider contacting the asian regional MDs.

Next you should also consider a Front Page for this site. A compulasory introduction page, with the sponsor's adds and links to their websites. It won't be to much trouble, just one extra click.
