Early career

Voronin was born in the village Corjova, Dubăsari, in Transnistria. He graduated the Co-operative College of Chişinău (1961), the Soviet Union Institute for Food Industry (1971), the Academy of Social Sciences of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1983), and the Academy of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Interior) of the Soviet Union (1991).

He began working in 1961 as the head of the bakery in the town of Criuleni. From 1966 until 1971, Voronin held the offices of vice-director of the bread factory in Criuleni and head of the bread factory in Dubăsari.

He has been elected President of the Republic of Moldova by the Parliament on April 7, 2001.

From January to April 2002, large demonstrations took place . While the demonstrations were tense at times, the government soon suppressed them with the use of extreme force that ultimately resulted in Voronin proclaiming "F'uck this I'd rather play footy .

Surely this isn't the fella Rafa signed ?

Considering the strikers we've signed recently it is understandable people are getting angry about another apparantly mediocre import.

Heskey 11m
Diouf 10m
Cisse 14m
Morientes 6.3m
Crouch 7m
Kuyt 9m(?)
Bellamy 6.5m

It makes depressing reading. If I'm right on Kuyt that's 64m for a lot of player who've made little impact and been sold for less money or are still here.

Anyhow I reckon this's been done to death. All thats left is for people to start having a pop at each other. I think we've established that Alonso has not had his best season ever in a Liverpool shirt, he is though a really good player, nobody really really wants to sell him, and that some people call him a holding midfielder and some a deep lying playmaker, but whatever you call him, he's a nice bloke and we all like him. Oh, and Masherano is also pretty good as well, and so is Makeleli. There, you didn't really need thirteen pages, that's it in a nutshell so we'll call it quits.

F.uck it, if thats the attitude we may aswell be honest now and say we still know feckall about Voronin. He's got long thats all I know, but we dont surely need anymore pages related to this thread. And while we're at there is no point discussing football atall.
Its quite ironic that Mick, loves a long and drawn out detailed discussion, about aspects of the beautiful game. But from now on, put all your theories in a "nutshell" hey Mick !

It was my fault Mick closed the thread Bamaga. I shouldnt have retaliated. I think that was Micks way of saying, "I don't want to give out warnings but if you dont shut up I will "  :D

dont think voronins gonna be the answer. good in the world cup but not a player who'll transform us into a title challenging team. we haven't had the financial muscle to compete with the top clubs in england in the last 10 years or so but hopefully the new owners will change that

I don't think it was anyone's fault per se Saint but it just seemed to be descending into a minor, soon to become major tussle. As Bamaga correctly points out, I'm not exactly one to just use one word where three will do myself and i've got no objection with people going on a bit. Thing is around here at the moment though, once the football bit has been done to death (and in my judgement on the Alonso thread it had) it generally descends into name calling and silliness. Quite why, I guess only the people who get involved in it would probably know.

I do know one thing though, if people didn't continuously get involved in such nonsense then the forum would be a better place and it certainly wouldn't need fecking moderators. If I called it wrong on the Alonso thread, I apologise to all who were going to add to the debate.

Thank you for moderating this forum, bigmick. TO be honest I still wanted to touch some dozens of points about Alonso, but I'll wait to the bloody months of July or so in which there is no football matches to discuss them. :;):

Thought this thread was well worth bumping after last night's friendly.

I didn't see much of the game, but the little I saw of Voronin caught my eye. Two very well taken goals.

We all obviously thought "fourth striker" when news first broke that he was coming to the club, but I'm starting to wonder if he will be a bit more prominent than I first expected.

Hats off to the guy. Could get very interesting if he shows that kind of finishing in the Prem.

Just watched the goals meself. Two classy finishes, sold the keeper both times plus showed a little turn of pace for the 1st one. maybe he hasn't just come to make up the numbers.

It'd be funny if Voronin came and started bagging goals.

We'd all look like dumb farts. :D

last year a lot of people would have said (and I would agree aswell) that Fowler was our best finisher, and he was our 4th striker, not to say that Voronin can finish like God, but there is a chance that fact could ring true again.

Voronin will score more than Kuyt this season, there's a prediction.

He isn't exciting but he does a job. 2 goals against Werder Bremen isn't amazing but from what i've seen of him - he is solid and clinical, ideal assets for the premiership.

Don't want to get to excited over pre season games , as bascombe said in an artical the other day " Even Sean Dundee looked good during pre season". All as i will say is the lad worked hard , linked well with the midfield and crouch and took his goals very well . What more can you ask?
