Not that I know of and it CAN be used as derogatory term here as well, usually it's not complimentary. - as Kazza said it came from Western Orientated Gentlemanbut over here is applied to any one from the Middle East and Italians and Greeks mostly. Spaniards and Portuguese get it as well but they don't have especially large communities here.
