My night in 2005 was pretty unique....

I had tickets but had to give them up. I had important Chinese visitors out here in Brazil and had to show them around farming operations. As we kicked off I was sitting in a processing plant pretending that I gave a tommy-tit. As we sat in a meeting my wife called me to tell me 'We're winning 3-0 at half time". Thats right, the missus is Italian!

I sat in the meeting as miserable as h.ell for the next 45 minutes imagining the scenes of despair. I called her out of duty at the end of the meeting expecting the worst. "Extra time's just started, 3 all!"  I got the Chinese onto the bus in 10 seconds flat and told the driver to get to the hotel as fast as poss. First off the bus (clients? What clients?) told the girl on the desk just to give me a room key and I'd check in later. Ran to the room and found the channel just as the first lad was stepping up to start the penno's.  Same time my mobile rang and it was my best mate back home, :censored: as skank and we went thru the pennos together. What joy!

I saw the highlights many times but it was a full 12 months later that I finally saw the dreaded first half when I went to the Anfield shop and bought the dvd.

This year the Sao Paulo reds are organising a central (boozer) place to get together to watch the game.  I've got my tickets and there are no chinese in town and I'm gonna switch my mobile off until the end of the game when I'm gonna call the missus to give HER the good news!!

Just my penny's worth late on a sunday night.

There's also a thing called respect. I see many of our supporters lashing at Milan fans for talking about how they're going to win and talking about scheduling parades, and here we are doing the same thing.

There's a difference between saying "I think we can win the final" and talking about the victory parade as if we're certain to win.

I'm sure if you get to know Ciggy you'll realise that arrogance isn't her way, and that it wasn't meant to appear cocky.

I was making a general statement, not directly referring to that particular member.

My story isnt as good as Leons or Ciggy's (BTW good post Ciggy).

I was in Bamaga, KO time was around 4.30 am. The night before I brought a carton of xxxx gold, :(  Its a dry community up there. Anyway couldnt get a decent nights kip but tried never the less.

The alarm went off I jumped out of bed, anxious as. Went straight to the fridge and cracked open a coldie. I think I was that nervous that I'd necked 3 cans in the space of 15 minutes up until KO.

Like everyone else I couldnt believe what was happening inside the first half, I was so gutted at what I was seeing. I was pretty quiet in the first half, apart from hurling the odd bit of abuse at the TV and the ref. Well and truly drunk now, I waited for the second half to start.

And that would of been about a 5.45 am, around that time or fifteen minutes after the neighbourhood had well and truly been woken up. OMG, I was jumping up and down and going mental at what I was witnessing. The neighbours immediately next door to us heard me carrying on, the walls a paper thin, and she said all she could he was c*nt this and c*nt and fu.cking get in there !!!!!
She turned the tv on to see what I was watching.

Anyway the game was won, the carton was sunk, and I couldnt believe what I'd just witnessed, unbelievable. My missus went to work, me mum phoned from England celebrating the win over there it was great, something I'll never forget.

After a couple of days word had got round that I'd woken up the street, anyway some of our neighbours said to my missus that they'd heard all this noise around 5am. And a few houses were woken in terror. At first they thought I was beaten up my missus, because of all the noise made.   :no
My missus set them straight, and from their onwards I think they refered to me as a mad passionate "soccer" fan. :D

Wasn't wog used as an insult to the black people in England in past centuries?

(not that I'm offended eh?, just curious, it's normal to put names to foreigners, all the saxons are 'giris' here. In case I'm wrong, what does it mean?)

P.S. LFC #1, send (if you wish) the answer to PM to not interrupt the footie thread further.

Two years ago I was offered tickets for the final (they were very good seats were going to cost 2000 Euros each) but I had work concerns and there was a problem with flights to Turkey so unfortunately I did not go. I have regretted it for the last two years. I ended up watching the match with a room full of Milan fans (mind you none of them were Italian but all seemed to have been scum fans, bitter b@stards). At half time you can imagine how I was feeling and my mobile did not stop ringing from calls and texts. I just could not understand why Hamann was not playing so as to hold the middle allowing Stevie and Alonso to dictate play. Second half started and Hamann was playing. While I would not claim that I knew we would win at that point (I mean we were 3-0 down against a team that did not concede goals) but with Hamann playing I did feel we would make a game out of the second half. I mean WOW. How it turned out. Unbelievable! Had I gone it would have been magic (a memory for a life time).

This year I have been offered tickets again and once again good seats. Although I do have work concerns, it can be done and travel to Athens is not really a major issue as was Turkey two years ago. But I seem to be draging my feet as if afraid to change the fate of the team. It worked for me last time and the question that I must ponder is the regret of not watching the team I have supported for 30 years live winning the CL final, greater than the regret of going and watching them lose and feeling responsible. I know it sounds wierd but that is how I feel. Most important thing is we win.

Ta Kazza!

My 2005 final wasn't too especial, I went to the pub near my house, and bear with the 3-0 the best I could, as I always do in this cases, crossed arms, frowned, and I stood still. My friends always tell me that when my team (RS,Liverpool) is losing I'm like a rock (but I suffer internally).

Then I started to scream with the Gerrard goal, and all the pub looked at me, because despite people wanted LFC to win, they were not that mad as me about the idea. When Xabi scored, the pub already was cheering for Liverpool, somehow all the people surrendered to the great comeback of LFC. And when the game ended I yelled a big TOMAAAAAAAAAAA (take that!!) outside the bar.

Then I went home and I think I read the forum. Great stuff.

I did not shout "take that" it was more along the lines of Foxtrot Oscar (the room I was in I felt the world was against me).

It was an amazing moment in time and will probably never be equalled. If we beat them 7-0 it would not feel as incredible as coming back from 3-0. I think that the match has a lot to live up to which means it will probably be 0-0 and go to penalties.

COME ON YOU REDS
