Makes pretty impressive reading. The fact he only had 2 assists in 34 games shows he's a very selfish player, but when someone's scoring that much it doesn't really matter to me.

I disagree.

He works a lot for the team, he falls to the wings, go to deeper positions to touch balls, track backs, and presses. AFAICT an assist is counted when the pass ends up in goal, but I think in this case, the stats are misleading, IMHO.

Understand what you mean there Sabre, TBH I was shocked to see only two assists as I thought he did more for the team. Probably as you said, he doesn't very often make the final pass to count as an assist.

No chance, we'll sign  Darren Bent for about 12million or another stop gap.

Prove me wrong Rafa.

Much as I love Xabi,,,, "Where do I sign!!!!"  :D
Xabi is a great player but I don't think he is essential to us, a great striker like Eto is.

Madness.

Like Tevez and Inter's Adriano.

to many rumour's  going around about alonso to leave liverpool in a swap deal with  eto...

tbh  im starting to believe it,  right or wrong !!!   dangling alonso on offer to barcalona puts us at the top of the list for eto's  services...

just to make it clear im against any deal were alonso leaves...

who else thinks rafa is keen on playing steven gerrard and Javier Mascherano in the middle these days...      things will be clearer after our champions league victory  :D   :;):

I would be absolutely shocked if Eto'o left Barca in the summer. We have no one in the squad that can replace him, so would need to bring in a replacement. Why buy someone else when you already have the best?

That's the club's view. In the other hand, we've seen often in Spain that when a player really wants to go, it's much more likely to happen.

I don't know whether it's the case, but some signs suggest it is...

Could you say Barsa Murph something about Eto'o? I've seen more than my mates, but you, much more than me.

Selfish in the pitch? worker? finnisher? your view?

Really!

So your Alonso's agent and Liverpool's finance director, interesting.

I had no idea how well informed some members are. :upside:

No smoke without fire or so they say ?

If we had the chance to get him then i would like us to sign him, its already been mentioned that it would be a real show of our new owners intentions if we were to beat MU to the signing of a great player, but at what cost ?

Ive said before that Raffa isnt the type of manager who will  pay over the odds for a player and i dont think he will engage in a bidding war with MU or Chelsea, but is that right ? would the new owners expect him to match the ambition of the other two in the transfer market or will it be a case of ok you have had your spends for this season your other targets will have to wait ?

Another thing that worries me is the mentality of ANY player we sign it is well publicised about Rafas rotation, is a big name player going to come here and have games sat on the bench or will they want to play every game, will Rafa risk upsetting the applecart by not rotating a big name signing, he has shown in the past that he is his own man and has not been afraid to show it, Alonso dropped being one example and the famous 100 game rotation farce. So i for one cant see him making any guarantee to any player that he will play all the time

This is where Rafa earns his money, getting big name players to sign with no guarantees regarding starting each game

IMO the time has now come for rotation to stop and for him to find a settled 11 and baring injuries or serious lack of form stick to it, we will have a much better chance of attracting theses players if he does that not to mention winning more trophies

Rergarding Owen i would have him over Eto or Tevez simply because you just know what you will get, he is ( if he stays fit ) a guaranteed 20+ a season goalscorer and with the clause in his contract regarding Newcastle not being in europe we would get him for a less than half the 17million they payed for him, therefore leaving more money for the other targets that Rafa has in mind

Mick, would you rate him highly enough to get in a bidding war with the Mancs and Chelsea over his signature though?  Granted, he's exactly the calibre of striker we need to recruit this summer but, for me, I don't want to pay 40 million or something equally ridiculous for him just because Man U's offering Barca 37.5.  There are other targets to consider in that situation, IMO.

I agree, Rafa will sign a player after he has done his homework i.e. after plenty of scout reports, informed opinion and analysis.

As much as I'd love to see Eto'o at Anfield, I'm not convinced Rafa and co. would be willing to fork out circa £40m or so for one player. I'm sure he has his eye in someone a little cheaper than that. I think the days of paying that kind of money for one player are gone (with the exception of Chelsea perhaps), £20m is a more realistic budget for a top class striker in my opinion.

Even still, it's not a case of value, it's a case of quality. Maybe he'll make an Henry-esque find for a lot less money? Who knows. I'm he's doing his homework.

I think we could do alot better by bringin two strikers in:
Anelka
Tevez
Owen

Are all better options IMHO
