I peel and cut potatoes and then soak them for a lil while in a bowl of water.
I saw this recommended on tv, it gets the starch out and chips are meant to taste better. (Water turns cloudy because of the starch)
Then dry chips with some kitchen paper or tea towel, otherwise they would make the fat spit..
Then I fry them in veg oil and apparently they taste ok...
Like your method Shanks.
I dont do the water starch thing, though I might now
Heat up olive oil in a pan, leave to heat.
Get some flour (plain) half a can of beer drink the other half thats what makes cooking these a pleasure, mix flour and beer together (or buy beerbatter mix) add a little salt and pepper.
So the batter is made, throw the chips in batter (coat them) then staight into the pan.
And wham bam thankyou mam you have beer battered chips that taste devine !
