i miss out on all things chippy, there is one chippy in bangkok owned by a brit who does all the normal chippy things like chips, fish, mushy peas, sausage, gravy etc etc etc.

the only problem is my bird wont cook me chips, the chippy is near soi cowboy and its fine array of gogo bars, when i go the chippy i ussually take a few hours as i inadvertenly wander off into soi cowboy. when i get home i tell my bird they had to cook some fresh chips, so she things chips take about 3 hours to fry

:D

Generally when I cook chips they are for other people.

I peel and cut potatoes and then soak them for a lil while in a bowl of water.

I saw this recommended on tv, it gets the starch out and chips are meant to taste better. (Water turns cloudy because of the starch)

Then dry chips with some kitchen paper or tea towel, otherwise they would make the fat spit..

Then I fry them in veg oil and apparently they taste ok... :)

I'm only trying to be helpful... :)

Actually I've been a Liverpool fan since I was a child....some lad I fancied happened to be one..

Like a mate of mine says..you don't choose the club, the club chooses you...and I'm sooo glad it was Liverpool, 'cause we're the best!!!

(And what this has to do with chips I've no idea...  :D)
