I loved the photo which had Shankley with Jock Stein when Celtic won the European Cup.  Shanks told Stein "Your now immortal".

The great man died before I was born, but his legend lives on.

That is a book I will be buying - no doubt.

I am not old enough to have remembered anything during Shanks' era. As it is, I became a fan during the first season of Paisley's reign, when we finished the season empty handed, and I was a wee lad at that time.

We had a close battle with QPR for the league title in 1975/76 but prevailed and was clinched the title in the last game or was it the penultimate game (?) but then took the UEFA Cup over Brugge, who we'd meet again in a Euro final this time the greatest of them all the European Cup in 1978, over 2 legs of the final. Since that season, we never looked back and Sir Bob the greatest never finished a season empty handed right until his retirement.

I can only read of Shanks era with great interest, as he is one of THE Liverpool legend.

I have read Steve Gerrards and Robbies books, so Shanklys will be next on the list. :nod  :bowdown
