Last week we won the "North West Sectional Heat of the Masters Football Championship", live on Sky Sports.

That trophy was way cooler than the Amsterdam tournament cup.

Really, Ajax could get more players interested in their tournament if the winning team won a year-long supply of Amsterdam's finest cocaine and some free hookers.

Injury setback for Man Utd's Carrick
tribalfooball.com - August 06, 2006

Manchester United's £18.5 million signing Michael Carrick will miss the start of the season after suffering a foot injury in yesterday's 1-0 win over Ajax.

The midfielder lasted just 14 minutes on his second appearance before getting injured in a tackle from behind.

"It looks like he'll be out for a few weeks - there's a lot of swelling," said manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ryan Giggs' free-kick gave United a 1-0 win and meant they were the winners of the four-team LG Amsterdam tournament.

Carrick's debut against Porto on Friday was marred by sendings off for Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes, who could now collect bans from the FA.

Manchester United's first league game is against Fulham on 20 August and Ferguson already has several injury worries with Gary Neville, Gabriel Heinze and Nemanja Vidic all currently sidelined.

Rio Ferdinand and John O'Shea both picked up injuries against Porto although both should be fit for the start of the season.

Ferguson added: "Your hope for the start of every season is a clean bill of health.

"The last two years have been horrendous for us in terms of injuries. I was hoping we would get a free run this year but it hasn't happened.

"But we have a big squad and we have to get on with it. We have great experience and hopefully that will give us a good chance."

Entering that tournament was really a good idea for Man Utd.

1- Their overly expensive new signing gets crocked.

2- Their chav striker introduces his chav forearm into Pedro Portugeso's face and is sent off.

3- Their "not able to tackle" ginner tries to disconnect Pedro Portugeso's foot from his leg, and gets sent off.

On the plus side, they did win a moderate sized silver trophy, worth exactly £19.99 from "TrophiesAndMedals.COM"
