The 1978 Fa cup semi Final , when Jimmy Greenhoff scored the winner for Man U -that was a balling match for me
I remember around the same time one of the Notts Forest defeats left me devastated too

Losing 4-0 to the Scum. I actually felt sick after that.
And losing in the League Cup final to Chelsea was depressing in an annoying sense.

Fa Cup V united

Twice, 1st trip to Wembley was Cantonas winner in 96.

Then the 4th round at Old Trafford, it was sickening, i was on the 2nd row, Neville did exactly the same as he did this season by running up to the Liverpool supporters than celebrating with his team mates, for 89 minutes it was one of my best days ever and i went home feeling worse than i had ever done from a football match before.

But it swings in roundabouts  :D

I hate any derby defeat because my mates are all cun*s and support the bluesh!te and they even ramble on when you beat them, my mate said about us beating them with 10 men this season, "you have to admit you did play sh!t like, you only had 3 chances all game" i was speechless!

Same here. I wasn't there but watched it in a room with a couple of mancs. It was a 3rd round match if i remember and we were so close but they scored 2 goals in the last 5 minutes. I was absolutely devastated. I don't know why that hurt more than the 96 Cup Final loss, i think it was because Houllier was starting to build something, the boys played brilliantly for the first 85 minutes and then Ollie Gunna Solsjaer (can't spell it!) stole it from us. After the game Houllier came out and promised that 'we will beat Man Utd one day soon' and you have to admit he was right.

Going further back i think the FA Cup loss to Wimbledon proabably just shaded Michael Thomas's last minute goal at Anfield. I also remember how sick i felt after losing a classic FA Cup semi-final 4-3 to Palace. Going out to Leverkusen in the Champ League quaters was a tough one to take.

yeah. it was unbearable having to listen to the mancs bleating on about the treble that season. the fact is we should have beat them that day. bergkamp then missed a penalty in the last minute of the semi against them. and of course to top it all off, they went and did exactly the same as they did against us in the CL final after being outplayed for 89 minutes (not 45 as we were).

That game stands out as the one of the worst nights of my life. I was in the kop that night before kick off believed that the title was ours as Arsenal would never in a million years come to Anfield and beat us by two. I'll always remember full time when some guy who i had been standing by all game started to cry and simply had to walk out just saying 'see ya mate' as tears just rolled down his face. I couldnt say much for the rest of the night.

Had a few heartbreaking nights as a Liverpool supporter....they are far outweighed by the good times but here are my lowest moments:

Losing to Chelsea in an FA Cup tie after we lead 2-0....think it was 4-2 in the end, that one hurt like hell.

Wimbledon in 88 was a sickener too, massive favourites and totally dominated the game. Beardsley's perfectly legitimate goal ruled out and David Beasants only decent moment.

Losing to Man U in 96 cup final, was such a dire game and to lose like that was horrible, the fact that I was so pi$$ed made the pain worse somehow!!!

The worst for me was 89 to Arsenal, I was crying like a baby at the final whistle, I mean really bawling. The league was ours, I had been bragging all day and then that happens....i still say it was handball!!!!

One low point worthy of mention is half time in Istanbul last year....I was devastated....fortunately for me the boys lifted my spirits a bit by the end of the night!!!!!

Leaving aside the tragedy that happened the same night,it has to be the European Cup final 1985.We were going for our fifth European Cup and got robbed by a terrible penalty decision.

It was 1977 Mikz , your not having a good day are you  :D

I'd pick out two games and their both against the Mancs.

Firstly that 77 FA Cup Final was a gut wrencher. When your 11, football and your team mean the world to you and my lip was quivering that day. Tempered only by the folowing Wednesday when we landed the European Cup but had we beat the Mancs and won the treble it would have been a full 22 years before they managed it   :sniffle

Which leads me nicely (or not so nicely) onto the 1999 FA Cup tie at Old Trafford when we surrended a 1-0 lead only to concede twice in the closing minutes to lose. Depsite being 33 by this time I cried like a baby and like St michael was there to witness Gary Neville's disgraceful taunts to teh Koppites ............Once an a.sshole, always an a.sshole  ???

Its a sensitive issue but the 89 Title decider was a kick in the proverbials but coming so soon after Hillsborough I think most LFC fans were too emotionally exhausted to cry anymore....R.I.P to the 96  :buttrock

Funny enough 1977 Final was first game i started watching as a 10 year old and in reflection quite glad the MANCs scored first
As a ten year old i always went for the underdog, i use to support indians in westerns and the Germans in the war movies as they were always losing. ;)
Liverpool went behind, so i started supporting them, totally ignornant of the fact that at the stage Liverpool werent exactly underdogs on the football stage :)

As for loss that made me sicker then Long John's pet , the 1989 title losing match against the Gunners, Wombles upsetin the  FA cup and Cantona FA cup final would all be up there.

'88 cup final against Wimbledon because they lost in a very un-Liverpool way - they bottled it.

I was in Brazil listing to the BBC overseas service on shortwave. I'd dropped a homemade antenna cable all the way down the outside of the apartment building where I was living from the 11th floor to the ground and reception was still :censored:. I couldnt believe that gang of nobodies had beaten us. Vinnie Jones not being sent off in the first few minutes decided the game. :(

Tough one.

I can't seperate the following:

All losses to the Scum,

All losses to the bluesh*te,

All losses to Sh*tski.

Aside from all that, the loss to Middlesborough in the Coca Cola Cup semi in about '98 had me in a rage. The c*nts beat us 2-0 at the Riverside, having lost 2-1 at our gaff.

W*nkers. :D
