Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has warned Chelsea that other clubs are catching up on them.

Benitez is adamant that Jose Mourinho's men will not have it so easy in next season's Premiership race - with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all ready to challenge them.

Chelsea look set to retain their title after going nine points clear at the top of the table on Saturday, but Benitez believes the gap is closing between Chelsea and the rest of the league.
"Yes, Roman Abramovich has money and we all know that there will be more and more money," said Benitez

"But Chelsea can only buy so many players. They have many players now, yet the other teams are getting closer.

"Manchester United have proved this season that if you are very positive in the way you play, then you can get very close to Chelsea.

"Chelsea and United are much closer than they were last year and, next season, I think that Liverpool and Arsenal will also make it much more interesting.

"Then there are other teams like Tottenham and Blackburn who are developing.

"It is good to see that no one is scared of Chelsea now. Teams have learned to play against them and we are all working on ways to beat them.

"United are closest at the moment. The difference is now down to the results of one or two matches.

"It is good enough for Chelsea now, but it is not a gap that cannot be closed.

"Clubs and players no longer fear Chelsea. They know that they can be beaten now.

"We are seeing that - and it is only the start. Every year, it will become more and more difficult for them."

This was taken from Sky Sports.

At this moment in time Chelsea are the team to beat, they are the team who we have to measure ourselves up against.
Already compairing ourselves from last season we have closed the gap on them and improved immensly.
I'm not going to make any bold predictions for next year, but for next week when we meet Jose and his mob in the cup I can see a semi-final win for the Pool. And hopefully just hopefully this will be the start of there demise.

Above anything else this is only a good thing for football,'the catching up of Chelsea'. It wasnt even a year ago people were saying English football is ruined because of the finacial clout the Chavs have. That murmur isnt quite so distinct now, and teams such as us have learnt to adapt and approach our game plan to combat this.

For all there arrogance and money Chelsea are not just the team 'we love to hate'. No, they are a target, a target well within our sites and it wont be too long before there blown out the way.

Chelsea are worried, and the signs are showing!

Is there rift with the manager and the board at Chelsea? Who knows but if what you read is true, then the there are signs that Chelsea not being able maintain the huge point margin is concerning them, and Jose is using his gob (yet again) to try and say he is not concerned, but is clear that he is!

This is a great sign for us all, and gives ourself and United the confidence we need, with this season performance to keep striving forward and catch Chelski and win the title.

Rafa is spot on!

When you consider how much has already been spent by Chelsea, they should have wrapped it up a long time ago. I'd love to see a breakdown of transfer fees and wages spent per Prem point. Make interesting reading I think. I suspect that a team like West Ham or Bolton would come out very close to most economical.
You'll never walk alone.

Maybe it wont be the start of a Chelseas demise as such, but more of a Liverpool revival. I honestly believe that Benitez will secretly be looking to win the prem next year.
Not just because of this result, we know we can beat them in a game but havent been able to beat them over the course of a season. This must surely be Rafas next job as manager of Liverpool, a huge task but if accomplished, well, the Rafalution has really started.

Yesterdays result was as sweet as they get and made even more sweeter by Maureens post match comments.

The points dropped is something we must not let happen next year like this year

charlton home we drew 2 points lost there
Charlton away lost 3 points lost there
birmingham home and away drew 4 points lost there
Fulham away lost 3 points lossed there

just these games theres 12 points lossed by birmingham who are in the relegation fulham who are just escaped it and charlton who arent looking too good anyway

with those 12 point we would be miles infront of man ure

not sure where to put this, so i put it here

Dalglish hails Rafa revolution

Kenny Dalglish believes Liverpool are making such huge strides under Rafael Benitez that next season will see them become title contenders.

The former Liverpool player and manager, who bossed the Reds to league titles in 1986, 1988 and 1990, attributes much of his old club's recent success to the former Valencia boss.

After winning the Champions League last season, Liverpool will face West Ham in this year's FA Cup final, and Dalglish expects the Merseysiders to be an even mightier force next season.

Benitez is expected to make improvements to his squad ahead of a third season at the club, and Dalglish said: "It looks like Liverpool will finish two spots higher in the league than they did last season, and if they manage to do that again next year then they will be champions.

"They are definitely moving in the right direction and although I am not sure whether they will manage to win the league, Liverpool can certainly compete with anybody on the pitch.

"I am sure Rafa Benitez will make some more signings in the summer and that will only make them stronger."

Dalglish's 1990 side were the last Liverpool team to be champions of England, and although Chelsea and Manchester United appear to be one step ahead of Benitez's team, the gap is closing.

Dalglish, 55, said: "I think Rafa has been brilliant for Liverpool and he concentrates solely on the football side of the club which is the most important thing.

"He is only worried about preparing his players for the next match and he lets them get on with their job, so you can't have anything other than admiration for him."

Dalglish also welcomed captain Steven Gerrard's move to commit himself to Liverpool, after Real Madrid announced he was on their list of summer targets.

"There is no team in the world that wouldn't like Steven Gerrard, but unfortunately for them there is only one team that has him and that is Liverpool," said Dalglish.

It's always nice to see the optimism around here, anyway Chelsea can only buy so much. I doubt they really can improve there squad that much, but us on the other hand well......
