Fulham sign cristanval - Were we too slow again?

The Premiership - General Discussion

Fulham have stepped in to sign France defender Philippe Christanval on a free transfer.

The one time rising star of French football has been seeking a new club since being released by Marseille at the end of last term.

Arsenal handed the defender a trial during the summer, but he failed to truly convince Arsene Wenger of his merits and returned to France to mull over his options.

His availability alerted Cottagers chief Chris Coleman and a deal was wrapped up on Thursday, with Fulham handing the 27-year-old a three-year deal.

I've just read this on the SkySports website.
Why didn't we give him a chance?? This guy's got pedigree.
Have we missed the boat yet again?

All I am saying is that we are short of cover in defence, and it wouldn't of harmed us by signing a player like that - it would have cost us f#ck all. What's the worst that could happen? We took a chance with Pellegrino last year, it didn't work out and we got rid.

Have to agree with people here....i would rather give our youngsters a chance than getting someone who "once had potential"......

I read this thread and was about to go on about someone who once had potential not being ANYWHERE NEAR good enough for LFC, but loads of others beat me to it  :D
Mate you should of known you were goin to cop it with this one, when you read the statement Marseille released him.

Djimi Traore is a better player than Christinval.

He was a fantastic talent at youth level before sliding down the rungs.
