Rafa pays tribute

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby liamac » Fri Nov 25, 2005 10:26 pm

CAnt help but feel disgusted that a thread i started about George Best passing away has been deleted by the mods on here.
Not only is it a major thread on RAWK  but our very own manager of Liverpool felt that George Best was of such importance and influence on the game that he paid tribute to the man.

To be honest i think its petty and pathetic that people would either complain about the thread or for that matter , delete it .

Heres the  qoute from Rafa

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has been warned that he may be forced to wait until next summer to land Ajax midfielder Steven Pienaar.

South African ace Pienaar is due to fall out of contract next summer and had looked set for a cut-price departure in the New Year, with Celtic reportedly the favourites amongst a host of clubs chasing his signature.

However, his agent Rob Moore has now warned that the Amsterdam club may retain his services due to their progress in Europe.

"We will probably wrap up everything by the end of the month," Moore told The Herald newspaper. "There has been interest from all the major leagues - England, Italy, Spain and Germany.

"With Ajax going through to the next round of the Champions League, they might figure it is better to keep him for the season."

Benitez is a long-time admirer of the 23-year-old, who has also attracted interest from the likes of Manchester City and Fulham in the Premiership.

Just thought id like to remind some people on here that just because someone played for a club other than Liverpool it shouldnt stop us from being able to pay tribute to his footballing genius , even our own manager did ...................small minds small people , sorry folks but deleteing that thread just p!ssed me off  :veryangry

Rafael Benitez has paid his own personal tribute to football legend George Best, who sadly passed away today.
Benitez has recalled the fond memories he has of the former Manchester United and Northern Ireland star and described his death as a great loss to the game.

Ooops !!!!  wrong bloody post

Here is the qoute

A sombre Liverpool boss said: "I remember him as a fantastic player. He was a different kind of player with talent.

"When I was in Spain you thought about the English style as long ball and fighting in the air but he was a player who could dribble and pass the ball, the player you like to see.

"I remember watching him on the television and he was a fantastic player."

No problem with me!

And yes George best's death has been remarked here aswell, in all the newspapers, even the general newspapers, which do not carry so much info about football. To be honest, I've seen only videos, I'm not that old, but there's no doubt of the relevance of that player.

I can understand where such a veiw comes from!! I've thought and thought and i believe a sheltered life springs to mind!
Some people are lucky and are born into a family that functions well, everyone does their bit and goes to bed...like the Waltons!
Some are not so lucky and are born into poverty..well not poverty really but a Friday to Friday existance that without a paycheck would be in for a miserable weekend!
George Best was born into poverty in Cregagh not said like that BTW its said Craigy and done nothing wrong only posessed a gift that was unnatural!

Anyway he went to the SCUM....which i feel is the reason that most who :censored: on him on here are doing so!
He showed off his talent which was exceptional,he could do everything.Pass, tackle, dribble, head, both feet anything a footballer in any position needed George had in an almost greedy abundance. One of his SCUM managers was asked who his best player was in a certain position and he replied'George Best in them all'

Yes he was an alcoholic but that is were i come back to his roots. His mother died in 1976 yes she too drunk herself to death and was obviously an alcoholic! George grew up with this, was taken to Manchester at a tender age and once his gift was exposed overnight(it was the quickest rise to stardom ever) had busloads of girls outside his house! Yes that really happened busloads!
He could not cope played at SCUM till 26 went awol came back never the same player and from there on in there was only 1 way! Downhill!
He was the 1st Spiceboy as they put it! But at the same time was to common to realise that he was being exploited by everyone around him! A major advertising tool is what he was used as by people he was too fu.cking decent and trusting to realise were not his friends!

Ok he was a pisshead and yes he did hit his wife! That was his biggest demon, the fact he loved who he was but hated who he had become!
In situations that i hope most on here never have to encounter the person in distress is very likely to strike out at the person that tries most to help them! Yes the person they feel closest to is their outlet! And the fact that George battled his demons till the end and the women he had beaten understood him enough to try and help to me paints a great picture!Yes George was an alcho,he played football through the early stages of that! Yes he was selfish! He was still on soccer saturday 2 years ago albeit talkin about the SCUM! But every day was a battle for George and he battled through more days that most could have the balls to think about when it was easy to quit!
RIP GEORGE BEST

Btw his Liver's :censored: and his lungs as well but the rest are usable and may give life to another HUMAN BEING!!
I'll have his heart please!

Great player, would have been able to enjoy a long career if Alex Ferguson was in charge of him. It's a shame that he did not have the opportunity to play in the World Cup finals.

If he wasted 2 livers or had drunk himslef to death, then to each his own. We never know what his problems were or how much he had been hounded out of much needed privacy at the height of his fame, so we should not pass judgement so easily.

RIP, George Best.
