That moment is enough to convince people the man provides service but is not up to manning top class strikers
absolute tosh. are you telling me that drogba is top class?
hyypia has been virtually flawless this season with the exception of that game when the whole defence had a mare. we've kept 8 clean sheets in 11 league games ffs.

The Australian cricket and Rugby League teams had that problem for ages. Too many to select. Its a nice feeling.
The Ashes were a wake up call. It sucks to be West Indian at the moment.

You forget, some of our part time fans think if one of our best players have the odd bad game then they are the clubs worst player ever

Like Kewell in the Champions League final.

Like Kewell in the Champions League final.
With all due respect to you AussieKopite, Kewell has been complete pants for Liverpool apart from the odd game here and there.

Well, all the people who've slated Hyypia, telling us how we need pace at the back, how Sami's past it and not the player he was (some truth in that), to the people who told me over the years how good Carragher wasn't... and that i was a know nothing for rating him.
Heres a big

you, from myself and on behalf of Mr Sami Hyypia and Jamie Carragher and they are shoving those words back down your idiotic throats.
Clean sheets so far this season, games in brackets:
Liverpool 8 (11)
Chelsea 7 (13)
Bolton 7 (12)
Newcastle 6 (13)
Spurs 6 (13)
Wigan 6 (12)
Second least conceeded in the league after Chelsea.
I said last season, once we had a quality keeper the defence would play with more confidence and keep clean sheets, i've been proven right.
We do need back up and a long term replacement, but to suggest Sami's past it at this moment in time is simply rediculous.

I am back man. Look like you've been missing me?
So you have started the old pro-against Hyypia thing? You should know my stance by now. I don't think the big finn is up to it. He hasn't been for a long time. Hyypia has world class players around him, and they make him look better than he really is. (have you seen his
performances for Finland?) I think even you could manage if you had Carra as a partner and Gerrard/Alonso just in front of you. Still, every now and then Hyypia gets exposed. Usually it is his pace that lets him down, but sometimes it is his passing/positioning. A more solid defender to partner Carragher will make us much more solid and hard to beat.Having said that I do recognize that Hyypia is a valuable player on set pieces and when the opponents try to attack us with long balls.
And also why try to open the Carragher book as well? You were the one who claimed that his natural position was right back FFS.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

Glad you're ok anyway lad, thought you'd died or something.
No seriously, come on. Banana, how on earth can you argue with 13 clean sheets in 17 competative games lad?
I'm sorry, but you don't do that if you have a weak link at the back. Hyypia isn't what he was, but to say he's past it, not upto it or not good enough is madness.
Yes AT TIMES, he's sloppy with the ball (others he isn't) and he does lack pace, but he's got more or less everything else.
Someone made a point the other day about Sami, saying if he had the same attributes, but with the ability to play the ball better, we'd have probably the worlds best defence.

If we replace Hyppia with a pacey CB then that pacey CB needs to have as good ability in the air as Hyypia because otherwise we will be ruining the partnership with Carra.

agree with you stu...Hyypia still a lot of value to our defence. Yes Carragher is playing some superb football right now but he will be thankful for the experience of the big Finn next to him. Try slotting Troare in there and only then will someone like Banana see the value of a guy like Hyypia.
