Just a quick word for certain people...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby 115-1073096938 » Mon Nov 21, 2005 3:45 am

Certain people come on here (Banana + others) and slate players when we're playing poorly and go missing once we hit  a bit of form.

Well, all the people who've slated Hyypia, telling us how we need pace at the back, how Sami's past it and not the player he was (some truth in that), to the people who told me over the years how good Carragher wasn't... and that i was a know nothing for rating him.

Heres a big :censored: you, from myself and on behalf of Mr Sami Hyypia and Jamie Carragher and they are shoving those words back down your idiotic throats.

Clean sheets so far this season, games in brackets:

Liverpool 8 (11)
Chelsea 7 (13)
Bolton 7 (12)
Newcastle 6 (13)
Spurs 6 (13)
Wigan 6 (12)

Second least conceeded in the league after Chelsea.

I said last season, once we had a quality keeper the defence would play with more confidence and keep clean sheets, i've been proven right.

We do need back up and a long term replacement, but to suggest Sami's past it at this moment in time is simply rediculous. :)

The back four are doing well but we still need another CB, a good CB that can provide some real cover for the rocks that are Carra and Sami.

Agreed, but what i don't agree with is people telling me that those two aren't good enough.

The only pairing i can think of thats better is Terry and Gallas. Theres no shame in that.

I reckon our two are as good a pairing as anyone else in europe. Individually there are better players out there, but as a pairing i think Jamie and Sami have near enough everything.

The two of them (with the exception of the Chelsea game in the league) haven't put a foot wrong all season and are easily players of the season so far.

I really like our defence now, i think its looking stronger by the weeks and its looking less likely we'll conceed now. Finnan's solid and reliable, Warnock and Riise are both good full backs and offer solidity and the centre halfs know how ot defend superbly. :)

Also, Sami's proven he can adapt to a different style of play and does need Hamann to "baby sit" him.

I wouldn't definitely not say that Smi is past it, however I will say that he is slowing down a little bit.

Totally agree. I think there is no question about their defensive abiliy. If there is something to be improved, it would be the RB and LB ability to move into the attack. Other than that, there is nothing to complain. Please remember we gave up 4 goals in one game against Chelski. Just need a CB to cover them and not wear them out too quickly.

I reckon Riise when fit is a fantastic LB with the ability to attack, but I feel that we are missing a top class RB.

yes...we are missing a top class rb that can defend and attack well...rafa will sort out all problem. he just in his second season. right now we just must stick with finnan on the right coz he's the best solution now.
we are strong enough at the back now when defending but on offensive mode, we are far behind chelshite, manure and gooners. i said that coz our defenders only no 2 ways to pass the ball

1- long punt
2- left or right passes

should it be 4?

1- long punt
2- left pass
3- right pass
4- back pass

I didn't realise we had kept as many clean sheets as that already.
That is very impressive.

It is the area that Rafa highlighted that needed imroving as we lost by a single goal too often last season.
I think thats why we seen a few negative looking draws in the first few games of the season.

The balance between attacking and defending seems to be getting better with each match.

I agree with Ab though about the need for another CB, Hyypia and Carragher have been top drawer this season again.
But if either were injured we would have no cover at all.
Traore or Whitbread for cover...that worries me.

I'm a fan of Hyppia.  I remember how well he and Henchoz played together.  They kept so many clean sheets it got boring!  However, he has been responsible for quite a few goals this year.  It's obvious we need another CB so we can rest Hyppia.  I wonder who Rafa will buy in January though - we've been linked with every Carlos Kickaball (copyright of Alan Sugar) in Europe.

here here! All we can do is ask for more of the same. :;):  Totally agree with stu that when we are playing poorly there always seems to be a sudden influx of newbies wanting to have a rant but seem to always disappear.

Well if Sammi is having a good start to the season, thats great. But he's cost us games and points in the past 2 seasons due to his lack of pace.

When you get old and your legs start slowing, judge him on the season, not on the first 2 months. When the pitches get heavier, we'll see how he does.

Stu makes no secret of his love (in a football sense obviously) of Hyppia and there is absolutely no question that the big man is playing really well at he moment. Reina too is looking solid and a good stopper, while Carragher continues to be a rock. I did look at the table myself on Saturday and noted that we had conceded 8 in 11 games. When you consider that Chelsea put 4 past us it is a quite unbelieveable record. You can say it loud and proud in my honest opinion, we have the best defence in the Premiership at the moment. I actually disagree with Stu here, I think our defence is better than Chelsea's.
The question of whether or not we should buy a centre-half and crucially which one is different entirely though. We should of course, but there's no point in the Pelligrino's of this world (despite the fact that I actually praised him up long after everybody else on Earth had realised he was useless). We need absolute top quality or a young fella who will gradually come on to replace Sami (as Whitbread isn't and never will be good enough IMHO). So it's Ledley King or this Agger bloke then.

Cant expect sammi and Carra to play every game for us they will be burnt out the second half of the season, but finding a trustable replacement is going to be very hard indeed, they have a comfortable relationship Sammi and Carra, and better still when Hamann is protecting them.  And its now safe to say Josemi and Traore have been the fault at us conceeding in games, they should be sold off in January.
Ledley King all the way for me but will he come to us? And would Rafa pay the enormous transfer fee?
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
