I'm staying positive here - The manager will get it right

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm in agreement with big mick here, but I don't think Rafa will leave, well I hope not.

I can't understand how we can differentiate so much between European and domestic football though.

Oh and Reporter69 f*ck up ya clown.

I dont know either its baffling. Maybe we believe we can WIN the champions league or at least want to defend it with pride.Something is definately amiss ,Im behind the manager and hope he stays but I just hope he buys a higher quality of player. That worries me real bad. Still too reliant on Gerrard too.

i hope rafa doesnt leave, he's still one of the best managers in the world but to lose to palace with a decent team is not good enough.I still have faith in him but the team needs to start playing better

We are Liverpool FC and yes, we have started the season poorly, yes, our last two games were outragously poor and yes, Rafa does need to get a grip with his team. All of these points are true.

Reasons why we won't get relegated:

1) Rafa is a top class manager with a proven track record.
He will get it right but he needs to pull his finger out.

2) We have a core of great players. (Hyypia, Carragher,
Cisse, Gerrard, Hamann, Alonso) These players are more
concerned of getting in the top 4 then dropping in the
    bottom 3.

3) Parry and Moores would never let it get this bad and neither
    will the fans.

This season so far has led me to seriously question Rafa's judgement in the Premiership, but somehow, I think he will learn, because a man like Rafa does not like defeat and i am sure the next game is going to be entirely different.

I'm not saying in Rafa we trust, but I know one thing is for sure. We WILL get into the top 4 this season and we will perform in Chamions League again.

So to those who think we're going to get relegated. Shut up, get a grip and look at the bigger picture.

Who has said we are going to get relegated?I think most people are scared of us being an average side,of which we are at the moment.
I for one wont be calling for raffas head but everybody is entitled to their own opinion so less of the SHUT UP,thats not fair at all.
I also see you call the players in brackets great, behave lad, there is only one great player there mate and we know who that is.

yea, it is fair to say 'shut up' to those who think we are going to get relegated. People have every right to their opinion, but if their opinion is complete rubbish, they deserve to be berated. Also, you saying that we have only one player who is great is absolute bull. Did I say world class?NO! I said great.

Gerrard - World Class
Carragher - World Class (or at least capable of world class performances)
Hyppia - great player.(saved our bacon god knows how many times)
Cisse - our only goalscorer at present.

Lad, you can have you opinion, but for somene to say we'll get relegated is daft (i know you didnt say it)and that we have only one great player is sheer nonsense.

We ARE capable of  a top 4 finish (depressing that we are only going for top4 but we are in transition) it is just a question of the right mentality.  :nod  :;):

This is my first visit to the boards since the Palace loss and must admit i'm surprised to see this much over-reaction. Things were pretty bad after the Fulham game. Everyone was down on the team and the manager and this was understandable BUT losing away to Palace with the likes of Potter, Whitbread, Carson and Raven in the team doesn't suddenly turn a Bad situation into a catastrophic one (does it?) If we had beaten Palace would everything have seemed rosy again? Bollox would it.

The big game was always gonna be against West Ham this Saturday. The players and manager's backs are against the wall. They NEED the fans to take the roof off at Anfield and they need a win badly. I honsestly couldn't give a toss about the league cup (at least not until the semi-final) coz it's been devalued so much over the years. All that matters is Saturdays result.

If we lose the game. I agree. We're in the shi.t

I don't get why everyone keeps saying we are playing sh|t.  We're not.

The problem is purely putting the ball in the net and confidence, the rest of our play is ok, We are creating loads of chances every game, we just can't score.

Raffa knows this so he isn't gonna just walk away!

We all need to look at the bigger picture, unfortunately, football is all about results which is why everyone is getting so upset, but if you disect the games we have played in we are no worse, in fact probably playing better than last year, apart from our strikers who are struggling with confidence at the moment.

I laughed at the start of the season when people where saying we would challenge for the title, I didn't even think we would get 2nd or 3rd.  Raffa has had to rebuild a side virtually from scratch and often when new ways of doing things are intriduced, not just in football, but in all business, things often get worse before they get better.

One of the few decent things Gerrard Houllier ever said was that it would take 5 years to turn Liverpool Football Club into a Premiership winning team.  He wasn't wrong and Raffa is only 18 months into the job.

If you want to support the English Champions go and support Chelsea, but if you love Liverpool you must realize it will not happen overnight..  We all had a bit of a false dawn moment when we won the European Cup, but if we where honest, in the final, the reason we won was more down to 6 minutes of pure passion from the players, that scored 3 goals against auguably the best defence in the world, that in any other situation would not have happened, and I am including Hollywood here.

The battles this season are going to be hard enough, lets get behind OUR club, give Raffa a break and realize that the road is going to long and rocky.

Our job as supporters after all, is too support our team.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Sums it up for me. Too many here are getting carried away hurling mud at the boss. Beat West-ham 3-0 on Saturday and win again at Villa the following week and we'll have em all up on a pedestal again.

What's the difference between your average football fan and the tabloid press?

Buggered if i know

Good posts Scott , but the thing is these results cant keep carrying on .

After the Boro game it was , are we were unlucky not to score.
Sunderland - We didnt play well but its the three points that count.
Spurs - There a good side a draw was a good result.
Man U - Bore draw nuff said.
Brum - Two points dropped , but at leat we are picking up points where we
didnt last season.
Chelsea - The scorline flattered Chelsea or something on those lines.
Blackburn - Another lacklusture performance and we struggled to kill off a side down to ten men. Again though its the points that count , so there is no need to scrutinize the performance.
Get the drift yet ?

Fulham - Now the panic buttons are being pushed by numerous supporters.

I am by know means throwing mud at the boss , but eventually fans are gonna run out of excuses and face the truth. The truth is we could of turned the other cheek after the first three or four results , but now we are nearing November and the team has taken a steady decline in results.
West Ham is going to be a tough one now , and even if we beat them that does not , by no means mean we are out of the woods. The team will have to go on a good blO#dy run to shake off the early season blues for me.

I take your point but if you take a look at the results we have managed this season (up untill the Fullham game) we were doing better than last year. Last season we lost at home to the mancs and away to Boro and Birmingham. We also drew at home to Blackburn last time out.

Don't get me wrong. We're playing pretty lousy right and i'm not gonna pretend otherwise but if we had beaten Fullham last weekend i wouldn't be reading through ten billion doomsday posts and bull.shi.t theories (at least the majority of them are.) I'm just trying to point out there is often a very fine line between success & failure. I'm also glad a few of the posters on here aren't doing Moores/Parry's job. We would be in trouble.

I agree, its called the goal line, our main problem is getting the ball over it.  The rest of our play isn't as bad as everyone is making out...

great player to me means world class and carra is no great player.Yes he will never let you down and never put a foot wrong, but it doesnt make him a great player, that term is used to easily these days.
maradona, pele, cruyff, beckenbauer, dalglish, ronaldino, henri. They were and are great players.
opinion means, everyone has the right to their say,as in free speech, just because its not the same as yours mate you dont have the right to tell them to shut up.

St Michael. I'm possitive too. It's good to see people whose opinions do not change after the next lost match. Real Madrid has a darker future than Liverpool, believe me. Champions makes harm (See Madrid behind my team, see Betis 14th).

BTW Alonso has made an interview for Marca. I liked what I hear. He said we are lacking goals, but he blamed not only the strikers but himself and the midfield. Liked that. He didn't mention anything about the january transfer window. He said he relies on Crouch, when asked about him. When asked about crisis, he has stated that every top team is in crisis when they lose 2 matches, but a good row of matches and everything will change. Seemed confident. I quite liked he has the same humbleness we tought him in Anoeta, good to see that.
