Do you really think Rafa will walk Mick ?

I ,or we know its a bit more than a blip , but I hope he doesnt throw the towel in that easily. He's definately gonna be earning his money if and when he turns this around.

Thing is mate that this isn't just a blip, we struggled in the league last season and again this season, the one thing I'm hoping for is that in January we will get players that can score goals as at the moment we can't hit a barn door

It's a masive hole we are in at the moment. One or two fellas on here are looking at the bright side and fair play to 'em, but I think we are in really really dire straits right now. People looking towards January are deluding themselves. You can buy players but you cannot buy team spirit and if you look in the cupboard, it is pretty bare in that department.
Rafa has all the tactical ability in the World but against a team who really work their socks off as Palace did last night, unless you can cajole your players to come somewhere near matching their endeavour, you will get beat. Phrases such as "losing the dressing-room" are overused and I don't think we are quite at that stage yet, but if you looked around last night at the last twenty minutes there wasn't many of Rafa's friends out there. I didn't see one single player urging his teammates on, desperately trying to save the game and the reputation of the manager.
Rafa wouldn't be the first manager in the history of British football to climb out of the hole he finds himself. Few who are old enough will forget Mark Robins goal for Manure at Notts Forest saving the skin of Ferguson, or Adrian Heaths late goal for Everton away at Oxford giving Howard Kendall the time to build the best team in their history. It can be done but suffice to say you need a bit of luck and the players on your side. He is overdue one of those things and one of his major signings really coming off would help, but on the other he may have to look at his approach to the players. Even the best can learn sometimes.

Saturday was a shambles. Last night was a shambles. I'll bet this coming Saturday we're a million miles better though, and eventually we will click and come to life full time.  If the players are willing to give that little bit extra.

You hit the nail on the head - the players are not performing!  But then again, that's nothing new - look at last season's EPL performances.  Our players just don't seem to be able to motivate themselves for the "wee" teams - teams, they should be thrashing, if they give as much as the Juve/Chelski/AC Milan games.

OK, so it's unrealistic to expect that sort of performance/committment week-in-week-out, but 50-60% would be enough to overcome the likes of Fulham, Palace, Birmingham, etc.

I want to look the other way when I hear/read things like that. I would much rather hear that our problem lies in personel , tactics and formations , simply because they are much easier rectified, compared to what B.Mick is implying anyway.

The players are not playing just for the managers reputation , they are playing for there own reputation and more importantly they are playing for Liverpool fc.

Tellin' ya now. Anybody you thinks were gonna get relegated need a serious kick up the backside. We are Liverpool FC and yes, we have started the season poorly, yes, our last two games were outragously poor and yes, Rafa does need to get a grip with his team.All of these points are true.

Reasons why we won't get relegated:

1) Rafa is a top class manager with a proven track record.
    He will get it right but he needs to pull his finger out.

2) We have a core of great players. (Hyypia, Carragher,
    Cisse, Gerrard, Hamann, Alonso) These players are more
    concerned of getting in the top 4 then dropping in the
    bottom 3.

3) Parry and Moores would never let it get this bad and neither
    will the fans.

This season so far has led me to seriously question Rafa's judgement in the Premiership, but somehow, I think he will learn, because a man like Rafa does not like defeat and i am sure the next game is going to be entirely different.

I'm not saying in Rafa we trust, but I know one thing is for sure. We WILL get into the top 4 this season and we will perform in Chamions League again.

So to those who think we're going to get relegated. Shut up, get a grip and look at the bigger picture.

Then according to you then he's already proven it and is above criticism, I think last nights performance and the problems lay firnly at his door. The point is the slide is happening before our eyes and as fans we are entitled to question decisions, its not about being disloyal.

Disloyalty is about not supporting the club and not some temporary custodian who may not be around next season but the team and supporters live on.

Those rose tinted spectacles are they same you wore when GH was about,and I for one hope you are right but the stats tell me otherwise. We don't question what is going on for the sake of it but for some understanding as to what is wrong and presently we don't have the answers nor can I see it likely to happen in the near future.

Even the biggest LFC hater on Earth cannot deny we have AT LEAST 2 great players - JC and SG.
Alonso is having a dip, but we've already seen his class.

I am absoluetly fed up with seeing Liverpool play rubbish and I am sure Rafa is too. To be honest I do not think he has spent the little money at his disposal particulary well, however his hands his have been tied somewhat. In the summer he appeared to earmarked players such as Kuyt, Figi, Milito and Simao to name a few only to see it fall apart over the fee. We just couldnt or wouldnt pay up. Owen was another example. In the end we had to buy his second choices because the fee was right, or in other words all we could afford.With this in mind and if the team continues to flounder it would not shock me if he walked. I doubt the board will fire him. Lets be honest, Rafa could walk into almost any top job and have a much bigger budget at his disposal. If we do not go for it January then the game could be up.

I agree Lando, I think St Mikes first post in this thread was extremely well thought out and contains a number of really valid points.
I for one am willing to give Rafa some time to sort the problems out before I start saying the world is falling apart.

Also, is it me or are Reporter69, Dum1 and the much mentioned Hustler (whose reputation as an a*sehole precedes him) the same person?
If not perhaps they just morphed from the same pile of dung.
