MADRID : Liverpool were reported to have offered Betis Sevilla 10 million euros plus Djibril Cisse for attacking midfielder Joaquin.

The 24-year-old Joaquin, 4 goals in 33 internationals, has been with Betis for the last five years, sports daily As reported Thursday.

Cisse, who recovered from a broken leg to play in Liverpool's astonishing Champions League final triumph in May, has spent most of this English Premiership season warming the Liverpool bench after a mooted move to French side Marseille fell through.

He joined Liverpool from Auxerre for 14 million pounds last year.

Oh great that leaves us with an amazing strike force of Crouch, Morientes, Pongolle and Mellor

But with the 4-5-1 the emphasis is on the wingers and we don't have anyone on the right  :(

Well Rafa must be giving Harry all his trust and faith, cause he has said he cant wait for Harry to get back and he will play in a CL game this month and the Carling Cup.
Pity he hasnt said that about Cisse hey :(
How would everyone feel if we sold Cisse? and didnt get a replacement in for him? Cause we didnt get a replacement for Baros either.

I'd be gutted...  I still think we should be playing more attacking football, but with our forward line consisting of Crouch (good at bringing people in but will probably struggle to get 10 goals all season), Morientes (still has a lot to prove in EPL), Ping Pong (a bit light weight) and Mellor...(??) I can't see where the goals are cgoing to come from.

We need to buy someone who will score 20 goals per season, if we are going to start winning games.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

I would be disappointed if we didn't buy an actual striker as well.
But if you gave me the option of losing Cisse and bringing in Joaquin and no other striker until January...Cisse would be gone...simple as.

I thought i posted this before, but I cant find it now, but maybe all this is just beause when you are dealing with a player like Kewell you don't go out and say you want to find a new winger,  you need to have (or at least pretend to have) confidence.  By saying he wants Joaquin.  HK would effectively say :censored: it, and nothing Benitez could say or do would change that.

hi guys.....

i'm just a new guy in this forum....
how ever, i'd supported liverpool since early 90's....
may be we talk a lot about transfers....
but y not we just look at the basic of the game....
the tactics and starter elevents.....
are we good in 4-5-1?
may be in europe that's effective.....
but how about in EPL? is it same?
in my opponient, may be had to look back 1 step.....
y not use tradition position 4-4-2?
crouch more need a partner than a support.....
may be RB can figure it out.....

On commenting about tonights game with Chelsea Joaquin made this statement "It is a good shop window for me, but I want to win the match first and foremost", which to me suggests he deffo wants a move :)

Bloody press asked him that. And he said that Chelsea was interested on him yesteryear, that he was close to go there, and if didn't happen then, it won't happen now.

He also said that "although not invincible, Chelsea is almost impossible to beat". I wouldn't care much of this though, typical Betis flattering before a match in order you get confident. I think we are going to see a good match there, and it will be tough for Chelski, Betis is tuning up the last games.

TBH Kaz I wouldn't mind if Chelsea won. If we can win also it'll make the group into a bit of a non-event which given the number of games we've had to play and this World Championship nonsense, would suit me just fine.

Its probably best for us if Betis get beat Kazza, were top of the group, on goal difference and we still have to play Betis at home, Chelsea away and Anderlecht twice, as much as I would love Betis to beat Chealsea over 2 legs its not going to happen.
If we win tomorrow night we are more or less through.

We would lose all hope if any of landing Joaquin should Real Betis progress into the later stages of the champions league (hopefully) with us, so in a way those that wish to see him here should be hoping Chelski take maximum points and eventually join us in the next stages.

Joaquin signing for us?

Or Real Betis getting through at Chelsea's expence?

Which would you choose?
