Houllier will still be around the next season just as sure as the fact that we will still be the same frustrated yet utterly loyal fans as we are today.

The irony of it is that Liverpool have been playing the same dour and defensive style of football during the Houllier era but where it has served Liverpool well during the early years of Houllier's reign, it has been severely inadequate in the recent years.

Stu keeps saying that Houllier is a good manager, perhaps he is but for me I am not convinced that he will ever deliver us the Premiership title. He may have laid a good foundation for the future development of young talents but that is what he is good at - building a good foundation, just as what he did for France - and he is not quite the man who can take the team to the summit.

The Liverpool board of directors are an incredibly patient and tolerant lot and they will never sack Houllier. If they collectively think that Houllier will eventually deliver while playing this dreadful defensive way, it just shows that they have little passion and understanding what the fans want. Not all defensive minded teams are utterly boring, AC Milan is one good example of how a defensive team can be successful but they are still a notch or two above Liverpool. As a long time fan for over 20 years, the present playing style is mediocrity personnified.

To all pro-Houllier fans, please just take this as an opinion of a frustrated long-time fan.

This great foundation Houllier's laid has just seen the under 19 squad given their marching orders, the likes of Welsh, Gillespie Osterbor etc etc put out on loan when second rate expensive purchases are played. We are slowly getting back to where we were three years ago and that was never going to win the premiership.
The great cock-up continues and games like today make people think that he just might get it right and "lets give him another year".

The great ship that was once Liverpool Football Club is rudderless and the longer the present board and management stay then sooner or later we will run aground.
Say a prayer for Morgan and O'Neil !!!

Two mickey mouse cups and two worth winning. The fact that the mancs and other fans take the p1ss out of our "plastic treble" shows you how much of an achievement it was.

Tell me why five years isn't enough to judge GH? He's had the money, the time and not produced consistency at the level required. We could compare him with Alex Ferguson, we could also compare him Arsene Wenger.........

I was considering something earlier, brought about by Friedel's comments - how many players have we had in each position under Houllier? eg goalkeepers - James, Friedel, Westerveld, Dudek and Kirkland (not that he signed them all) - where's the consistency? I'm sure left-backs would be a lot worse (Staunton, Bjornebye, Matteo, Ziege, Vignal, Riise, Traore, Carragher........)

Virtually every player signed by Foolier arrives here to a great welcome and anticipation from the fans. Most of these players have a very good reputation behind them and yet when they come to us all the reputatation and skill that we have heard about seems to fade away after a few weeks of playing for us. What is it that GH and Co do to them that turns these class players into very average ones ?

Simple. They come to us with a decent technical background and he tells them to hoof if to Owen. We are turning into Wimbledon of old. Route one football, int it great!!!

Sadly this was true and the reason why so many teams were able to snuff us out,they knew exactly what to expect. No wonder Owen looked so unhappy. In fairness it does look as though Foolier is trying to change things . His only problem is that he's not sure how

We all love ( and remember fondly ) the goal Owen scored against the Argies. The long ball take down and that is what he tries to repeat every time a long ball comes in.

And many teams put a man close to him with another standing just off. They have all the time in the world to see the old long ball coming . Owen is now better of being served with quick short one two's along the deck.

Yeah sometimes even Stevie G doesn't see it, but to fair lately it's been going more that way. Unless of course we go a goal behind and then the "boot it upfield" Fooliers plan for all seasons comes back again.

Roll on pre-season. Get Cheyrou, Kewell Stevie G and Diouf playing good passing footbal and Owen and Ciise running on to them.

Sounds good to me. Hopefully we also sort out the centre of our defence.With Henchoz out of favour, Hypia getting slower and Biscan wanting to swap shirts before the game is over the signs are not good . But I have heard any serious talk of buying a central defender with real pace and ability to stop us getting turned over like we were against Marseille . I dont know about you but I sh*t myself every time a fast forward runs at the centre of our defence.
