Dalglish would be another one I think would be good, but doubt he has the time tbh.

I don't think hiring a brigade of new mods is a very practical solution to this issue. Some months ago, at times there were only JBG and SS moderating, the circumstances felt more balanced. This is partly due to the less quantity of the members than today. later, JMac and St have made the mods becoming more solid until those less irresponsible posters arrive.

There should be a delete button option when you post something, you have this choice on a lot of forums, that if spats occur during a topic, the person starting the trouble can recieve a pm to tell them to delete their post etc etc.
It will also come in handy for editing topics, and for drunken rambellings escpecially from MOI .
On RAWK they assign MODS for every part of the forum, one in gen chat, one in the premier etc etc, that would take the work load off JMAC and ST, as JBG is busy most of the time and SS is hardly here.

i agree with big micks point the problem is the non lfc fans. The slanging is all good up to a point but posters should be allowed to express what they want to say. Ive been on here for a long time (dec2003) but dont post as much as others because i dont see the need to just, for example, post a smiley. That really irritates me. I like to in the large be constructive and be able to discuss lfc topics with other fans. Forums are great for people like myself who dont live in liverpool. Where i live all you get is talk of Bolton and the shitty man poo. Im not saying there aren't any lfc fans, far from it. They are just not really major supporters. The point im getting at is that this place was great and now seems to have to many personal battles, hell a couple of weeks back i got into one. So another forum moderator should help with the workload, but primarily, its us members who should stop these idiotic smiley posts.

This was my reply.

I am (maybe) a little bit more heavy handed than the other mods and if it was up to me, I would be a bastard and just get rid of trouble makers immediately.  But when a decision like this needs to be made, don't think for one second that we don't discuss it properly and everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.  I can't just go over the other lads heads.  I can't just ban people.  We (the mods) need to communicate first and make a decision together.  In the past when I have had to act quickly without discussing it with the other lads first, I have always explained my actions to them in detail.  And they will tell you that themselves.

I have spoken to all the mods today bar JBG and LFC.  And we are all in agreement up to now that this prick is history.  As soon as LFC logs on, we will speak to him about barring his IP number and e-mail address.  And we can only warn him up to a point as well.  He's got four at the moment if I'm not mistaken.  You've still got to give people a chance.  Banning has to be the last resort.  Unfortunately, he has used all his chances up today and he's now become a big problem.  We will sort it though.

That's all we can do up to now.

Only today have I discussed with the other mods the option of bringing in one more member to help us and it's something that has been on my mind for a while.  We are currently discussing whether we are all in agreement on who this should be and I have taken the lead on it.  I know who I want.  It's in motion.  If the other lads don't agree though, we don't do it.  Case closed, nobody is any the wiser.

I actually work hard behind the scenes on this forum, and today especially I have worked more on this forum than I have in my actual nine to five job.  It helps when you've got understanding bosses and the opportunity to slip away in the office for some quality (if that's the right word....) time on this forum.

Okay, an example of what you are asking for Leon is here.  Roberts has re-joined the forum.  I don't think he's as bad as some people make out but I know he likes to wind some people up.  He resurrected a two year old thread today by posting a smiley and bringing it to the top of the forum.  I thought fuck it, I'm deleting it, so I did.  It served absolutely no purpose being on the front page of the New Posts page, wasting everybody's time.

Roberts, if you're reading, you know I think you're a funny guy sometimes, but the joke fell flat this time.

Last week I had to speak to a member of the spam club called ry_math for posting smileys in about fifty threads in the space of twenty minutes.  He was warned.  Job done.

I'm trying Leon, I know there are problems at the moment.  I'm trying to do the best I can with limited time and limited power.  I can only warn members, not completely bomb them out and at the moment, myself and the other mods are getting a bit sick of bollocking members.  The softly-softly approach can only go so far when there are people blatantly taking the piss.

In my defence, I have given that Hustler member so many chances it's making me look like he's a favourite of mine.  After his Luis Garcia moniker was banned last week, I explained to him that he had used all of his chances up.  He came back as Luis Garcia 2.  He managed five posts, all sensible by the way, that's the way he works, he lulls you into thinking he's changed, but history has shown he never does, before I bombed him out immediately.

Not sure how hard things are for the mods, but got agree with Leon.

It's harder than you fucking think Ace.  You can never please everyone all of the time.  Do you think I have enjoyed sitting here typing this for the last twenty minutes?  We let some idiots try and ruin this place and I still get called for giving my time up and cleaning the place.

But I'll still bother because I want to make it work.  Hope this explanation helps.

:)

Jonnymac it wasn't meant to be a personal attack on you mate...or the other mods for that matter.
I am sure its a really difficult job and something that takes an awful lot of time and effort moderating this forum.
Thats why i did put on my original post, not sure how hard it is for you lot.
The post i sent was as much for the people who are engaging in these arguments to read so maybe they can see how annoying its getting for most people and hopefully ignore the obvious trouble causers.
BigMick again your points are spot on, it is down to us all collectively to try and not respond and as someone else has pointed out as well though the smiley faces without any actual opinion given most of the time are really annoying, thats why i end up ignoring some threads, i get bored with the topic going off what it was about.
Anyway as i was saying, i think we all appreciate that you are all doing a good job.
But every member on this forum whether they have differing opinions ino has a duty to try and post them in a reasonable way.
Thats not happening, lets hope these people read the points that are being made and things change.

It's a touchy subject, I agree their are a lot of faces I don't recognise these days and they do talk sh1.t but at the same time people like Meelan although he just picks arguements and is offensive sometimes he does give valid opinions.

Regards moderators I also thing it would be a good idea to appoint a further 2 to take the strain of the present mods as it must take a lot of time to TRY and keep everyone happy.

I Personally love this forum, its a place where i can come and talk to friends about Liverpool fc one of the most important things in my life.I meet fans from all over and apart from discussions on our club,we share a joke and a diversity in our opinions.I think the mods here do a great job and i suppose in every walk of life you get the odd idiot.
Fans who come on here from other clubs can be good banter if taken the right way,but i object to visiting fans coming on here who basically want to destroy our clubs history and put down our achievements to luck etc.We all know i have a gripe with chelsea forever and if i,ve offended anyone i,m sorry.I have have my views of what he is trying to do here with the under currents and timing of his threads but if i,m wrong with that i will apologise to him,but to be honest i dont think i am and cant understand another club fans obsession with liverpool fc and this forum.
Anyway most of us are friends and we all stand for the same cause, which is the roller coaster of a ride that is liverpool fc ,This is a great place, that is moderated very well  lets keep it that way...cheers

:D

Seriously, I have to agree with the general consensus so far.  It is the responsibility of all adult members of this site to act in an appropriate manner.  I know it's hard, but when one of these idiots pop-up, we should totally ignore them, a fire will only burn when you have fuel! Give them the pleasure of arguing with them, and they will continue to post.  Blank them, and they will get bored quickly.

people don't realise how difficult moderating is at times. i certainly underestimated how difficult it would be when i agreed to become one. as jmac said earlier, it is virtually impossible to please everyone on here all of the time. somebody's always got something to moan about (yes it's usually you 7_kewell).  :D

i think that the last couple of weeks, since the transfer window closed haven't been to bad. leading up to the transfer deadline this place was in serious trouble. hell JBG even PM'd me saying that he was thinking about jacking in the moderating. i still think that one of the main problems we have is that "general chat" is actually overriding the football chat a lot of the time. whilst i'm all for general chat, this is primarily a football forum and the majority of members want to talk about football.

It's not that you guys don't do your 'job' properly cos I think you do a great job but I think it's more a case that we need more moderators cos I understand it's a hard 'job' and that you guys also have lives away from the forum :(
