Cant be bothered with a pm as its too fiddly, so you can read and lock this.

This place is going to sh.it.

If you think that locking a couple of threads is the way to sort it you are seriously mistaken.

If you lock a thread without saying why then how can you expect people to learn what they can and cant do?

something more serious needs to be done on here or this is going to go the same way as the official sites forum.

Hand out warnings, delete posts and delete threads before this place implodes.

I implore you, please for the sake of all the good and decent members, and forthe sake of the decent debate that does sometimes pop up on here.

I look forward to your response.

Not sure how hard things are for the mods, but got agree with Leon.
There are about 5 or 6 people on here who i actually have an interest in reading there posts, they are reasoned have a point and dont end in causing arguments by being abusive.
I wont name any names but most decent threads end up ruined by individual personal attacks.
Most people are sick of it and dont post as much as they used to.
I only come on in work and will do no matter what but things do need to change.

I had a similar issue today with 7_Kewell over this meelan character.

This was my reply.

I am (maybe) a little bit more heavy handed than the other mods and if it was up to me, I would be a bastard and just get rid of trouble makers immediately.  But when a decision like this needs to be made, don't think for one second that we don't discuss it properly and everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.  I can't just go over the other lads heads.  I can't just ban people.  We (the mods) need to communicate first and make a decision together.  In the past when I have had to act quickly without discussing it with the other lads first, I have always explained my actions to them in detail.  And they will tell you that themselves.

I have spoken to all the mods today bar JBG and LFC.  And we are all in agreement up to now that this prick is history.  As soon as LFC logs on, we will speak to him about barring his IP number and e-mail address.  And we can only warn him up to a point as well.  He's got four at the moment if I'm not mistaken.  You've still got to give people a chance.  Banning has to be the last resort.  Unfortunately, he has used all his chances up today and he's now become a big problem.  We will sort it though.

That's all we can do up to now.

Only today have I discussed with the other mods the option of bringing in one more member to help us and it's something that has been on my mind for a while.  We are currently discussing whether we are all in agreement on who this should be and I have taken the lead on it.  I know who I want.  It's in motion.  If the other lads don't agree though, we don't do it.  Case closed, nobody is any the wiser.

I actually work hard behind the scenes on this forum, and today especially I have worked more on this forum than I have in my actual nine to five job.  It helps when you've got understanding bosses and the opportunity to slip away in the office for some quality (if that's the right word....) time on this forum.

Okay, an example of what you are asking for Leon is here.  Roberts has re-joined the forum.  I don't think he's as bad as some people make out but I know he likes to wind some people up.  He resurrected a two year old thread today by posting a smiley and bringing it to the top of the forum.  I thought fuck it, I'm deleting it, so I did.  It served absolutely no purpose being on the front page of the New Posts page, wasting everybody's time.

Roberts, if you're reading, you know I think you're a funny guy sometimes, but the joke fell flat this time.

Last week I had to speak to a member of the spam club called ry_math for posting smileys in about fifty threads in the space of twenty minutes.  He was warned.  Job done.

I'm trying Leon, I know there are problems at the moment.  I'm trying to do the best I can with limited time and limited power.  I can only warn members, not completely bomb them out and at the moment, myself and the other mods are getting a bit sick of bollocking members.  The softly-softly approach can only go so far when there are people blatantly taking the piss.

In my defence, I have given that Hustler member so many chances it's making me look like he's a favourite of mine.  After his Luis Garcia moniker was banned last week, I explained to him that he had used all of his chances up.  He came back as Luis Garcia 2.  He managed five posts, all sensible by the way, that's the way he works, he lulls you into thinking he's changed, but history has shown he never does, before I bombed him out immediately.

Not sure how hard things are for the mods, but got agree with Leon.

It's harder than you fucking think Ace.  You can never please everyone all of the time.  Do you think I have enjoyed sitting here typing this for the last twenty minutes?  We let some idiots try and ruin this place and I still get called for giving my time up and cleaning the place.

But I'll still bother because I want to make it work.  Hope this explanation helps.

I think it would be fair to say we all appreciate the work you lads do behind the scenes.  I know it must seem like we're having a go but we're arn't!  We all post here because

A) we're LFC fans

B) we want to discuss our team with fellow fans from all over the country and the world

it just gets really annoying when morons try and wreck the whole process, hence some of us post cricitsm and try to be constructive with it.  But, as i said, we all appreciate the amount of unpaid work you guys do.  Keep it up!  :)

I actually think the forum has slightly gone up in quality over the last few weeks after a really poor period a couple of months ago. On the question of the moderators, I think the guys do a very difficult job very well and deserve all the credit going for putting up with all the numpties we get on here sometimes.
On a seperate note, I do feel that some of the more experienced members on the forum are a little too quick at times to jump on their high-horse when infact they themselves are not averse to a little casual and unnecessary abuse on occasions.
As a general rule the forum would be almost self moderating if people didn't leap on the bandwagon when some numpty slips through. All the bad guys would quite quickly lose interest if their posts were met either with silence at best or a reasoned and moderate response at worst.
It always takes two people to make a slanging match and it's probably the easy way out to just blame the mods for the way this meelan character carried on in the end. Though he went off the rails eventually, some of his posts from earlier were those of a reasonable person so it is not always easy to single out the sh!te.
It is also possible for people to change for the better. AB when he first came on used to fight with everybody but now can occasionally be the voice of reason and is definately getting better at turning the other cheek. Similarly, Stu the argumentitive was universally welcomed back recently and has been free from the referees notebook on his return. It can be done, I know it sounds a little precious but usually it is possible to ignore the posts and the posters which you don't like.

Leon I think the mods do a decent job under the circumstances .
It can't be easy running a Loony Bin on democratic principles which in the main they try to do .

JMac I think you should talk to LFC about hiring another two or three moderators so that they could help you lot. It would make the load a bit lighter and things can be done faster and quicker.
