Stuart Pearce has again reiterated Manchester City's determination to keep hold of captain Sylvain Distin.

The dominating Frenchman, currently ruled out with a groin injury, was the subject of a failed bid from Aston Villa earlier in the summer.

Whilst David O'Leary failed to convince City to part with the player, talk has been that Liverpool could be ready to make a bid before the transfer deadline.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has reiterated this week his desire to bring in another central defender but Pearce remains determined to keep Distin at Eastlands.

''Sylvain is going nowhere,'' said Pearce. ''He is staying at Manchester City.''

Meanwhile, Pearce also confirmed that he still has a bid lodged for Bolton's Greece international Stelios Giannakopoulos.

The pacey wide man netted on Wednesday against Newcastle but it appears his strike could prove to be his swansong at the Reebok Stadium.

It has been widely reported that Stelios will join Liverpool before the deadline passes but should a move to Anfield falter, City remain a strong suitor.

''We have still got an offer in on Stelios and we are waiting for a reply,'' concluded Pearce.

''I would like to bring two or three players in before the deadline but if we don't, we will look at the next deadline and then the one after that.''

Saw this quote on a rumour site. Cant wait to next Wed this is becoming a nonsense.

**Must post message ASAP** Urgent news from Anfield - Michael Owen met up with Liverpool board this morning to discuss his move. When Bennitez found out, he charged into the meeting and put forward a threat of resignation if this or any other deals were discussed without him knowing....How do I know this information? Why I'm the mole who told Bennitez of the meeting!

My point is that anyone can write a fecking report claiming that player A is going to location B without any evidence in that report, quotes from certain parties being the evidence.

but thats just it... a lot of the 80 odd pages here, contain very little evidence anyway!.....doesnt make them any less of a rumour does it?

I didn't say that, I stated in general that the report which many believed has no quotes. I didn't say that it shouldn't be posted, it's just unbeliavable how many believe the report despite the fact that it has no quotes from Cisse,Benitez,etc... that confirms that there will be a move.

The footy journalist from the Times newspaper reckoned Parry is in talks with 2 French clubs tonight who are interested in taking Cisse. Not sure if repost, if it is Im sorry but cant be arsed wading through a thousand threads lol. On another note, talk of Stelios and Distin upsets me. They are rubbish. More average fodder on the cheap so I hope its all claptrap.
