i actually think joe cole would be an excellent buy, he done so well for chelsea the second half of last season playing on the right, and also think we'd have a realistic chance of getting him, for his benifit as the world cup is approaching and the fact chelsea have duff/robben and SWP. Centre back wise im not to sure, theres not many decent CB's available that im aware of, except maybe andrade, we'll see what rafa comes up with....

If I could choose anybody, I'd take Lucio and, yep, you guessed it, Joaquin. In real terms though, as far as defenders go, I like the sound of this Ivory Coast guy at l'OM in France, Meite. SSN are going on about him being linked with us and I say why not. He sounds like a good, no nonsense defender. Right Wing is tricky. Solano and Stelios could both do the job, but maybe wait until January and continue to use Garcia/Finnan/Barragan/Cisse/Josemi. I hope Rafa doesn't rush into anything.

Gud thinkin batman! even though he's a bit of a gimp, he's got the skills, but how much do u think we wud get him 4? Cos I doubt we'd get him on loan seein were title challengers

Joaquin for me he's in a completely different class, if not him then bastian schweinsteiger look promising. But if Ludovic Giuly becomes available from barca or if ajax are prepared to sell wesley sneijder. Or as other people have mentioned jo cole would be an excellent addition.

Stam, he would have a point to prove to United, maybe a bit on the old side but he would provide good cover and cud teach zak whitbread a thing or too aswell.

What about kim kallstrom? I think he can play on the right.

I must be about the only person in the entire Universe who's never seen this bloke play. EVERY time a right winger gets talked about his name gets mentioned. Is he really THAT good? Better even than Nunez?

he is that good bigmick, but will cost at least 30 million so forget it.

Realistic targets, well we have been linked with Salihamidzic who'd I'd like to see, or someone who I doubt anyone will mention is Simao Sabrosa of Benfica. I mentioned him in the rumour thread a few weeks ago, and have seen him play a fair bit, mainly for Portugal. Barca signed him for 10 million euro a few years back but it never realyl worked out, he has done well in Portugal for Benfica and is now the captian of the club. He's very quick and skilful, and has a good eye for goal.

He turns 26 this year so is rigt in the prime of his career, and incidentally he came from the Sporting Lisbon youth setup which produced Figo and Ronaldo who are the guys who have kept him from being a regular starter for Portugal so far in his career. However he was still na importnat squad member of their World Cup team of 2002 and Euro 2004.
