ST. MIKE'S RUMOUR THREAD - All silly season rumours here please

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby zarababe » Mon Aug 15, 2005 12:40 am

.. is that a rumour :D

Seriously though it looks like the Owen deal may well be on. Too many rumours and u know what they say.. no smoke without fire (who said that BTW ??? ) On loan for a year and then a permanent move next year. Make us dream.

If Wiltord came that would be interesting. Was surprised that Ar.se let him go in the first place.

Wiltord wanted to leave as he wern't really playing all that much and wenger was playing him as a winger and not a striker.

SSN.com have done an Artical detailing how Owen has "Many Suitors" including Newcastle and Man Ure as well as us. And I just heard from a mate in Spain that one of the papers there says that Inter Milan are now sniffing around. Inter do seem to be collecting Real Madrid players at the moment like they were limited edition pokemon cards, and if they could get Owen and Adriano up front, they'd have more class than a proud, but semi-illiterate Glazier.

The only way i would be interested in us signing Wiltord is if it was to play him wide right, he looked really good there for Arsenal and thats the position we need filling.
He could be a short term solution to the right wing problem.

Yeh I know that Wiltord could do a job on the wing but he got :censored: with wenger for playing him there and not his favoured position as a striker anway I don't want wiltord here.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is anxious to bring in a new right winger before the close of the transfer window after missing out on Portuguese ace Luis Figo.

Benitez is scouring Europe for the missing piece in his jigsaw and has been linked with Bolton's Stelios Giannakopoulos and Fulham's Steed Malbranque.

The Spanish coach is also looking outside of The Premiership and has been mentioned in connection with Lyon attacker Wiltord and Bayern Munich man Salihamidzic.

Rumours persist that Wiltord is unsettled at Lyon as, despite previous denials, reports continue that he has a strained relationship with coach Gerard Houllier.

The former Arsenal man has 12 months remaining on his contract and has yet to fully convince the ex-Liverpool boss of his merits for a regular place in the starting line-up.

But while Benitez is looking at Wiltord, it is understood his preferred targets are Malbranque and Salihamidzic.

The Bosnia international has spent seven seasons with Bayern and is a valuable member of Felix Magath's squad.

He has two years left on his contract and Benitez may have to stump up a significant sum if he follows through with his interest in the wide man.

According to one of the media watch articles on liverpoolfc.tv, there are rumors floating around that Owen would return with Woodgate as a part of the deal.
