I loved looking back Tony Currie,Peter Barnes, and Glen Hoddle

real flair players

who would you like to have seen

when barnes first burst onto the scene with city he looked brilliant and even got into the england side but his career seemed to nosedive just as rapidly.
can you remember where he went after city phil? i`ll be f@cked if i can.
currie and even the original `duncan` from everton along with the likes of rodney marsh, stan bowles, charlie cook and eddie gray all knew how to entertain the crowd in those days.
they were great days phil.

remember that famous goal worthington scored for bolton where he had his back to the goal but chipped it over his head, turned and scored?
the goals of the season in those days were something special, remember the one terry mcdermott got away at spurs from out wide by the touchline and the one justin fashanu got against us playing for norwich?

the Terry Mac was great.....i agree goals of the season then were really special.I also remember Keegan in his first season with Southhampton scoring a bicycle kick type goal from outside the area, which flew in the top corner only for it to be disallowed.

someone said earlier on this thread ,this thread was a joke because he could name thousands. To be honest between 1974 and 1984..........i can count on one hand players i would have wanted in our side then. All there was class out there,we as a team were immense, and at the time players like Ray Kennedy,Jimmy Case,Terry Mac etc i would never have replaced with anyone.

yeah in those days, and probably still today, those entertainer types where seen as a liability to the team and playboys off the field and liverpool didnt really want to know when it came to those types of players. (we`ve all heard the worthington failing his medical at anfield stories)
even when we had flair players in the side like peter thompson he was still a team player first and foremost.
still those other teams fans got attached to their heroes, remember the carry on when gordon lee sold mckenzie, the blue noses cried for about three seasons!!
