Rafa is saying that as a smoke screen, if he seems to enthusiastic then other teams will step up the chase and Real will up the price, from rumours I've heard the LFC board have the money ready for Owen as they want him back  :)

It not a money issue its about over crowding the squad, we dont want to buy Owen and get stuck with Baros aswell.

Im sure we still have enough money to spend.

if its all waiting for Baros to be sold, then it is probably tied in with the Essien deal - Houllier will put in a 7 mil bid if he gets Chelsea's fat wedge for Essien

Owen is supposed to be on his way back, liverpool have offered 6million now and another 6 over 2 years. newcastle have a current bid of 14 million on the table but i dont think he wants to go there so its down to madrid and mike to sort this out. baros on his way to villa for 6.5million. although nando was offered to them to. cisse and baros both offered to lyon aswell !! this is the bit that made me unsure of the truth in any of this , but this is the rumour thread after all :D

Funny you should say that destro, i've also heard that Lyon are wanting to put in a hefty bid for Cisse once the Essien cr@p is done and dusted.

I'd hate to see him go........  :(

My mate's dutch girlfriend swears blind that she saw Parry in Amsterdam yesterday (sat), does anyone know if he was at the game? In Liverpool? She's not a reliable source at all, as she is usually about a bottle and a half of wine down at mid-day, but seeing as it's a rumour, I thought it belonged here. Anyone know anything? ???

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is considering a £1.5m bid for ex-Arsenal striker Sylvain Wiltord, who is now playing with Lyon. (News of the World)

I think Cisse was completly overpriced, and if we can get close to what we paid for him we should jump on the deal before that fool (Houllier) changes his mind (maybe we can also buy back Diouf and then sell him to Lyon for close to what we paid the first time).

Although I completly respect the way Cisse recovered from that terrible injury, I do not really rate him as a world class striker (good enough for LFC).

Having said that I am sure we have not seen the best of him and would be happy to be proved wrong.

the sad thing is, i think if rafa got a decent offer for cisse, he'd sell without any hesitation. he didn't buy cisse and never in a million years would he ever have considered paying £14m for him. :(

I cant belive you're writing Cisse off already even though hes barely played any epl footy or any footy for lpool for that matter. Bar gerrard, Ciise is the only player in our team that looks like he can have an impact on a game like he has done in his two cameos as a sub in the last two games against kaunas and boro and the only other likely person of scoring. What are you on man? Not only that but Ciise is our 2nd top scorer so far this season and will likely be our top scorer if owen doesn't come. You must be crazy. Providing he actually starts the games Cisse is gonna make that 14m look like a snip

I agree, I can't believe the negative posts, Cisse is one of the most positive players in our squad, he's hardly played for us and by Christmas I expect at least 10 goals from Djibril :)
