I think Risse should step up to left wing and throw Warnock at left back, problem solved, although if Warnock gets injured...

Whats your alternative then? Traore?

Risse is the best we have by default.

Zenden still needs time to settle with his new team mates, coach, tactics etc.  Kewell is half baked and Garcia can't play in every position that people seem to have a niggling problem with.

As far as the left wing is concerned, I'd prefer Zenden over Riise.

Have you heard of the football concept "earn your right to play in the team".  i guess that option doesn't come on Championship Manager.

Have you heard of thing called ''skill"? Something Zenden has more than Riise. The two will compete for the spot but Zenden will be ahead of Riise, he has more skill in his left foot than Riise has overall.

I don't play Championship Manager, never had, never will.

Riise and zenden both dribble in the same way. i was watching zenden carefully against kaunas 1st leg and to beat his man, everytime all he did was basically fake the cross by cutting in knocking the ball a bit ahead of him. Riise also did the same thing against tns. They are very similar. I dont see zenden getting more goals than riise did last season playing on the wing

He doesn't have to score 8 goals like Riise did to make an impact, we need a winger who can cross the ball effeciently. Zenden provides more of that than Riise.

Your saying riise cant cross the ball ???  Are you forgetting that if it wasnt for riises cross to gerrard in the final then we wouldn't even had won the Champs league? And this isn't the only time when riise has put in a decent cross where we have scored many goals. Dnt get me me wrong but I would rather have riise at right back and get a better/proper winger but Zenden aint really much of an imrovement if any. Riise provides more of a threat than Zenden as not only can he score goals but he can put in a cross just as good as zendens if not better. Maybe if zenden had the ability to actually beat a man and create something then he would be a better option but if all zenden can do is just put in crosses all day then id rather have riise

One successful cross out of how many attempted?

Zenden has beat more defenders in one season at Boro than Riise has in his entire career. If that wasn't the case we wouldn't had got him in the first place. Zenden is a better crosser of the ball than Riise is.

What threat does Riise posses? Other than having a cracking left shot? That's the only thing that he posses, he's too static.

A bit of a silly thing to say your going on like dats the only decent cross riise has ever made. In the final he did a perfect cross to gerrard after only TWO attempts when the first cross got blocked

The reason why we bought zenden was because he was FREE and I'm sure others will agree.

That ''only thing'' that riise posseses it what was able to get him those 8 goals an win us matches. If zenden is such a great crosser why hasnt he set up many goals. The only goal that comes to mind was the one which cisse scored against kaunas in the 1st leg where the cross was so poor that crouch had to bring his head all the way to the edge of the box just to knock it down into cisses path.

Not gonna say that Riise is a solution to our left mid question  (I think Zenden is a better option ) ,but I am surprised at how many are having a go at him . Compared to many others in the squad Riise had an excellent and productive season for us . Christ at times he was the only thing we had to cheer about .
I found myself thinking he was better at left mid than he was at left back .

It's a bit silly to say that he's a good cross after one cross let to a goal. He's average at best at crossing.

The reason why we bought zenden was because he was FREE and I'm sure others will agree.

So you're basing his abilities on a few pre-season games? Ask Boro fans why he was their player of the year last season. If we're going to go by pre-season games then Baros is a world class striker. I also recall the likes of Cheyrou having a good pre-season, he must be good too........

Woof don't get me wrong, Riise had a great season but that doesn't change the fact that he's average as a winger.

Risse was number one for asissts last season. yes, more than gerrard more than Alonso. Risse was also alongside gerrard the top scoring midfileder. So Zenden has to work hard to push Risse out permanently.

It would be ideal for Risse to do what he does in the LB position but he really doe stink in that role. Alway playing catch up and always hoofing the ball. But LM he has an undoubted influence

Riise played more games than Alonso and Gerrard, both of them were injured. So yes it makes sense that Riise ended up with more assists.
