i think Rafa still has money left, the sales of Nunez, Baros and Dudek will boost his coppers.

Liverpool winger Antonio Nunez has signed a three-year deal with Celta Vigo.

The former Real Madrid wide man was deemed surplus to requirements by Rafa Benitez after a disappointing season at Anfield.

Nunez is now heading back to La Liga and Celta president Horacio Gomez was delighted with the acquisition.

"The operation with Liverpool for Antonio Nunez is closed," said Gomez.

"We just need to wait two days to receive all the documents from Liverpool. It is an excellent deal for us."

Vigo are still in the hunt for Manchester United midfielder Kleberson, but the talks with The Red Devils are making slow progress.

Gomez also revealed that they are stepping up their pursuit of Newcastle's Hugo Viana.

Celta face competition from German side Stuttgart for the unsettled Portuguese star, but the Spaniards are ready to fight it out for his signature.

"The subject of Kleberson is very difficult with Manchester United.

"We also have an interest in Hugo Viana and the negotiations have been initiated with Newcastle and we know that other clubs are interested in the player."

I think its just a good sign that Rafa can see when a player he has signed is not good enough.
I hope we got a fee for him, but just the fact that he wont be wearing a liverpool shirt is good enough for me.
I dont like to slag players but Nunez clearly was nowhere near good enough for liverpool, the amount of times Alonso knocked a cross field ball out wide on the right and Nunez couldnt beat his man, or his put his cross into the Kop was unbelievable.
Lets hope Rafa brings in someone who makes proper use of the width, and actually chips in with some goals.
Potter is not the answer either.

Nunez was not that bad last seaon. He was suffering from injury a whole lot last season, but he is not given a second chance to perform like cisse does. It is kind of sad that he is going. First it seems like we REALLY were raped from the Owen deal, second we lost a player who can play in many positions.

Benitez doesn't seem keen on letting players in contract go for nothing. He got a fee for Diouf ffs. I'd be surprised if there wasn't some fee.

I have to ask the question though, why the frig did we accept him as part of the Owen deal? Surely we'd have been better off signing one of their kids than some a guy of 25 who'd played a handful of first team games in his entire career. One of our strangest ever signings IMO.  :(
