My prediction 3-0 Liverpool.

LIVERPOOL (possible; 4-4-2): J M Reina — S Finnan, J Carragher, S Hyypia, S Warnock — L García, S Gerrard, X Alonso, J A Riise — D Cissé, F Morientes.

TOTAL NETWORK SOLUTIONS (possible; 4-4-1-1): G Doherty — M Naylor, S Evans, P Baker, T Holmes — J Wood, J Leah, S Ruscoe, J Lawless — T Rooney — M Lloyd-Williams.

Referee: J van der Velde (Belgium).

Tonights ref is the Frenchman that choked at the golf british open a few years ago isn't he ?
He took his shoes and socks off and tried to play out of the water. :D

Joeri Van Der Velde is tonite's match referee. He is from Belgium and not France as Ace Ventura mentioned. :D

Assistant referee: Jean-Philippe Lannoy (BEL)

Assistant referee: Rudi Verbruggen (BEL)

Fourth official: Eddie Vermeirsch (BEL)

wooooooosh

Just out of interest, what level do these referees normally referee at? Are these guys the same guys who would referee Champions League proper matches or are they more suited to the level of these qualifying teams?

Just think though this will be the first time in over a year that Rafa has a headache in choosing his players, we only have Kewell, Mellor and Pongolle still injured.
He is spoit for choice now plus we have new additions.
Cant wait for this season to start we are going to give the top 3 a run for there money, I feel it in my bones.
Its been a long time coming lets hope by some miracle something happens to Chelsea like being docked 60 points :D , the Buckaneers collapse, and Henry comes to Liverpool in the january transfer window, Pires goes to Juve with viera, and we have a chance to clinch the prem :buttrock

CMON U REDS.
This season is going to be great.
I predict we will win 2 tropheys.

Well that Spanish ref in the final is a resturant owner and works behind the bar in his resturant :D  Dont think EURO refs work as refs on a full time basis like them in the prem.

Unfortunately as just reported on Skysports News, the CL cup won't be paraded tonite as there are risks of fans getting onto the pitch. Stupid reason !

Im really worried at what Cisse might do to the TNS defense, at least a hatrick from him and mori! And what Alonso and Gerrard will do in midfield, if we get a 1st goal in 5 minutes, i reckon we could well be lookin at 7 or 8.

I think we should concentrate on actually beating the opposition first before talking about how many we'll score.

Hopefully we'll get a few, but it could be the case that one or two players might not be at the races, there could be a host of misplaced passes and a couple of misunderstandings.

Its our first game in almost 2 months so there's a fair chance there will be a good deal of rustiness about the side.

One benefit of these CL qualifiers, though, is that we are bound to make a good start in the league, as our team should have settled into their stride by the middle of August.

Its promising guys, definitely promising.
