well we didnt make any money from the champions league last year,so i think he has money but not as much as first thought, aston villa are said to be lining up a bid for peter crouch,i think rafa wants to rid the team of are second string players and no one is buying them so part exchange makes sense.

Liverpool return to make Reina first signing Jun 27 2005

By Ian Doyle, Daily Post

LIVERPOOL report back for pre-season training today - with Jose Reina poised to become Rafael Benitez's first signing of the summer.

The Spanish goal-keeper was believed to be on Merseyside last night ahead of visiting Anfield today to begin talks over an £8million move from Villarreal.

Arsenal have recently been linked with the 22-year-old, but Benitez has long been in pole position in the race for the highly-rated shot-stopper. And now Liverpool are ready to tie up a deal for a player they have been chasing since January.

With Chris Kirkland primed to move to West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan after turning down a similar offer from Scottish giants Celtic, Benitez is keen to bolster his goal-keeping options.

No player can be officially unveiled until the transfer window reopens on July 1, but Reina would be allowed to train with his new team-mates this week in preparation for the Champions League first qualifying round match against TNS Llansantffraid in a fortnight.

Kirkland has completed his move to the Baggies so it must be a done deal.... ???

This is a little off topic, but isn't it great to hear that Chelsea are being turned down left right and centre. The have (reportedly) offered rediculous amounts of cash for players, and have been snubbed.
Trezequet, Eto and Shevchenko to name a few.

I hope this trend continues, and that others clubs and fans show that buying the league gains no respect.

Yeah im not really fazed by it all as Rafa showed last year he keeps his cards as close to the chest as he can. The Garcia signing seem to come right out of the blue while all the focus was on Alonso
Hopefully next week we may see what really has been happening in the transfer talks and not whats happening in the imaginations of journalists desperate to fill their newspaper columns

The Daily Express today says that Figo is coming to Anfield and that his agent has already been in negotiations with Liverpool.

I hear that Rafa is eyeing Sideny Govou.... Where is the Big Names?

Reina will be a good signing for us. Prey

Since this is a rumours page, rafa was spotted talking to pat devlin who is damien duffs agent, so the word going round is that duff has had a falling out with JM, hence chelsea trying to buy SWP, would cost less than 15m so a good bit of buisness, for a change.

I reckon it's a load of sh1t. Why go after a player who only scored eight goals in 38 games in La Championat? The press are running out of ideas to who we're linked, idiots.

That was reported by the Echo a long time ago. Crouch signing with us, don't read too much into it.
