Firstly Stu, catch a f*cking grip man. The guy has only been here a matter of day's and you talk him down like a piece of sh*t, not exactly welcoming for the fella you a*s! He's obviously still learning, plus he's from the State's where football isn't exactly the most popular sport, give him a break Stu, you can shout at him if he's still doing the same thing a couple of month's down the line. :p

Secondly, I have to laugh at half the people on this board, they say Raul isn't good enough but dub the like's of Nolan, Crouch and Earnshaw ( sorry Mick ) fit enough to wear our shirt.  :D

I don't know how accurate this story is becuase it did appear a few months ago. Raul is the face of Real Madrid and it would be really hard for them to sell him if he didn't want to go, even if the fans are starting to show some discontent. Even if he were to leave the fee would be huge, and many other clubs would want him, though we do have the obvious Spanish connection and we are the European Champions!

I have always thought that he is a tad or two overrated, but still a good player. He and Morientes play fantasticaly together, and I would rather have Raul playing off a main striker than Garcia. What I noticed when Raul and Morientes played together was that they would both capable of dropping deep and feeding the other and both capable of feeding the one who made the run further up. They do have a fantastic understanding and look a real 'complete' striking partnership.

Maybe he has just gone stale playing at Real Madrid for so long. A new league and a new team may bring out the best in him. But buying him would be a risk, thats for sure.

Chelsea offered 70MIL for him and that was rejected, so what sort of price would we have to pay? I would imagine that it would at least be 25MIL. And wages of at least £100,000.

At what point did Raul, Liverpool, or Real Madrid, or his agents even hint on a tranfer to us?

It is a nice idea and if it worked out well it would be a piece of genius from the club, but my instinct tells me that it is just old rumours resurfcing or a new media fabrication.

Thats true.  But IF this were trwun and Beni was thinking about re-incarnating the deadly MORO-RAUL partnership agin at LFC, you only have to look at the SOul brother at Blackburn to know you cannot recreate success elsewhere.  you can only create it.

I don't believe there's any truth in this at all. I also think it would be a mistake if we did sign Raul, as I don't think his hearts in football anymore. I honestly feel that he would see us as a side-show, never recreate his past form, and be a lumbering forlorn figure, sucking the energy from the side like...a....errr....big....ummm.....hoover!!!!! I can see him being a slacker, never really trying and probably not even scoring double figures, despite insisting on playing every game possible. So there...!!!!! :p

It would be awesome for Raul to come to LFC.

But I don't think it will happen.

I knew and a lot of you probably knew aswell ,we win the CL and we are now linked or rumoured to all these players etc.
But the Figo thread and this one are especially annoying,Madrid have had a couple of sh!t seasons and are now looking (apparently) to offload there dead wood .The same dead wood with all the winners medals ,the high pay packets and the big attitudes.
And now we are rumoured to these .
Madrid always f%ck us over with transfer deals and will sell Raul at 25M .That said after we sold our top marksman to them for 8M at the begining of the season.
They aint stupid are they ?

So unless we can get Raul for a reasonable price  and he is willing to take a moderate paycut, him and Madrid  can go and take a run and jump.

I would much rather us be looking at a star in the making than a star losing his shine.

Raul is simply world class, compared to him, Cisse is miles away and I don't think he will ever be anywhere near as good as Raul. If it is 15 million, it is comparative bargain for a player like Raul and Real won't be able to command so much because Raul has had 2 modest seasons. It anything, it is the fact that we paid 14 million for Cisse which is such a big waste because it is at least 5 to 6 million too much.

15 million for Raul who is still only 27? I'd say go for it.

Bring on Raul, Cisse will probably not make the grade, Baros has been exposed and as for Crouch, well I am sorry but he is at best a Championship player.

There'd certainly be no dissent from me mate if we signed Raul. He is an absoluely fabulous footballer, one of the Worlds best and if he could be assimilated into our team pattern would tear Premiership defences up for erse paper.
I've never had a problem with overseas players, frankly you couldn't survive in the top division without them but I resent the ill-informed sneering and dismissive comments directed at "unproven" players you sometimes get on here. Raul is brilliant, but he needs the ball to play and in England, you have to compete to get it.
These numpties who come on here and say "sign Ronaldhino" are in a dreamworld. Successful football clubs buy top players like Raul, but they also take a chance on "unproven" players and sell them on at a profit eventually. After all, Ronhaldino hasn't always played for Barca, he was previously at PSG. I can see it now, "what do we want another bloke from the French league for?"
Crouch unproven? to an extent yes, that's why he's 5m and not 15. That's why Spurs got Defoe for 7m and not 20.
