I hope for Kewells sake its genuine but to see him celebrate like that is a disgrace he's lied about the injury and in all honestly i actually despise him. If he plays again my back will be turned to HIM. The only hope he has from me is if KING RAFA publicly tells us to support him and believe you me if he does put our shirt on he had better play 10 times BETTER than he ever did at leeds.

To look at the way Smicer played and gave his all(LEGEND) i have no sympathy for Kewell..sorry but im getting really irritated writing this he's really f****** me off Royaly!!!!

i like the comparison between smicer and kewell. smicer has frustrated me over the yrs to the point where i hate to see him come on but he gave EVERYTHING for the cause on wednesday night, played out of his skin, didnt lose possession, took his penalty well. superb - especially as he knows hes finished at anfield.

kewell, on the other hand, is a lazy, ungrateful waster - much more comfortable watching from the stand, contemplating his bank balance.

Kewell could still be good for the team, I guess.  However I would get rid of him simply because of his seeming wonderful ability to pick up injuries every game he plays.  Even if he comes back next year with a clean bill of health I'm convinced that within a game or two some injury will develop.  Probably best to let him go and bring in a more reliable player.

The thing is that he picks up these injuries not even hurling himself in tackles. He is a pansy, doesn't like the contact in the Premiership, so how the hell does he get himself injured?

He has made a mistake yes. He had the chance to get i operated on in the summer (everyone knew he needed it done), but instead he decided to have a holiday with his :censored: wife. Does this sound like a man who is committed to reviving his football career for LFC?

Compare this to Djib, who had a potentially career ending leg injury (could've lost the thing if not properly treated), yet he has worked diligently to get back to play the game he loves and for Liverpool FC, culminating in scoring a penalty in the shootout against Milan.

Djib has earnt the respect of his fellow players and al ofl our fans, for his great committment to the club. Kewell has yet to do the same, and sadly I don't think he ever will (I hope he proves me wrong, but am not holding my breath).

Exactly, for someone to fight for his fitness and struggle with injury, to come back with all guns blazing, and score an important penalty, Djibril has done this club, himself and football wonders. He DESERVED to be in Istanbul, and he proved it. Take heed Harry, on your bike!

Kewell aims to get the better of his injuries.......seems to me like the same ole excuses......

Kewell aims to beat injuries
by Tom Adams

Liverpool star Harry Kewell is looking to put a season blighted by injury behind him after he had to withdraw from the UEFA Champions League final.

The Australian was surprisingly handed a starting role in The Reds' sensational victory over Milan, although had to make way for Vladimir Smicer after just 20 minutes as he again succumbed to a groin injury.

The 26-year-old has never been unable to recapture the form that threw him into the spotlight at Leeds United, and started just 15 Premiership games after being hit with a succession of blows.

Kewell, who underwent surgery on Friday for the problem, admitted that the final in Istanbul was both the best and worst moment of his career and is now looking to emerge from a tough pre-season as a renewed force for boss Rafa Benitez.

"Hopefully with the operation completed I can put all this injury business behind me," said Kewell.

"Wednesday night in Turkey was the highlight of my career and also the worst nightmare of my career, its all mixed in two inside my head.

"Rafael Benitez showed a lot faith in me by picking me from the start because he had other options.

"It was great for me until the injury.

"I stretched for a ball and my groin snapped, I couldn't do anything about it.

"Now it's not going to be a great summer with all the rehabilitation but it's been like that for the last six months.

"But if you'd said to me six months ago that I was going to pull my groin in the European Cup final and I would end up with a winner's medal I'd have taken that.

"Maybe it's one of the worst things to have happened to me but it's still been the perfect end to the season."

Meanwhile doubts are emerging over the future of Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann, as it is reported that the midfielder could now stay at Anfield.

The German international had been expected to leave in the summer, with Hamburg and Bolton both potential destinations, although reports are now suggesting that the veteran could be in line for a new deal under Benitez.

Harry Kewell has had an operation on his persistent groin injury.
The Liverpool winger struggled with the problem for most of last season and lasted just 23 minutes of last week's Champions League final victory.

Kewell said the match was both a career high point and low point, adding: "It was great for me until the injury."

He told the club's official website: "It's not going to be a great summer with the rehabilitation but it's been like that for the last six months."

The 26-year-old Australian praised Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez for giving him the chance to play against AC Milan in the final.

"Rafael Benitez showed a lot of faith in me by picking me from the start because he had other options," said Kewell.

"I stretched for a ball and my groin snapped. I couldn't do anything about it.

"But if you'd said to me six months ago that I was going to pull my groin in the European Cup final and I would end up with a winner's medal I'd have taken that.

"Maybe it's one of the worst things to have happened to me but it's still been the perfect end to the season."

lets wait and see how the operation goes before we destroy him completely k?

I agree that Kewell has been a complete waste of space this season, but I think there are too many people over-eager to slate the guy.  Yes, on current form there is no way he should be in the Liverpool squad, let alone starting a game.  But don't forget that this is the same player that not too long ago Man U / Arsenal / Chelsea and Newcastle were all clammering to sign.  Kewell came to Anfield because he had given Houllier his word that he would and seemingly showed a real passion to play for us.  His form this season has been wrecked by injuries and if this clears up, next season he could be a real force.  We would all be gutted if we offloaded him and then he re-emerged as a world class player at a different club.  For about 4 years, Kewell showed real class at Leeds - a player does not simply lose ability like that over night.  I still have hopes that he will become the lightning winger/forward that we bought at a bargain price.

P.S. The reason you are all so :censored: at Kewell is because he has performed well below what we expected of him.  He has done no worse that say Diao or Diouf and was bought for far less.  He needs one more chance in my opinion to prove that he is worthy of wearing Red.

And we have berated Diouf and Diao as well. Perform badly for a long time, and you will feel the wrath.

well he has had the oporation now and has the summer to recover because he is now unable to play in the confed cup.  Next season Kewell won't have ANY excuses and i'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt...however, if we reach Christmas and he is still the same, sell him.

Until then i say give the guy one last chance because he didn't fake his injury...the fact he needed an oporation Friday (2 days after the final) shows that.
