I honestly thought the days had gone when a football match could actually be described as magical...when a team was destined to do something, or win something...and half time last night just seemed further proof that these sort of things never happen...so i decided to go upstairs and have a shower...god knows how you lot felt at that time but i was thoroughly p*ssed off...its rare i feel any sort of emotion for a football club apart from The Wednesday...but Liverpool in a European cup final was one to get anyone of my age going...and i had been looking forward to the game...it reminded me of the past, when football wasn't just about players drivin' around in ferraris and wearing designer clothes..it was about guts, passion and inate pride in your club...so theres me in the shower with talksport on the radio in the bedroom next door...i gets out to towel myself off and come down for the post mortem, when me kid shouts upstairs..
"ITS 3-3"!....I honestly thought he was taking the p*ss...then i hear the radio...and some commentator shouting "UNBELIEVABLE!!!"...so i runs downstairs naked (not a sight for the fainthearted)...and I KNEW then...that sometimes even in these days of Glazer and crass commercialism...sometimes... these things are "Written in the stars"....and i KNEW...and informed the whole household that i KNEW that Liverpool would win... i wasn't even mithered when it went to penalties...i KNEW!....I can only imagine how proud you lot must be to have a football club that is hauled up by the bootlaces...not just by the efforts of Players like Gerrard...not just by the wonderful fans who were a credit to the football league...but by History, tradition and heritage...by simply being Liverpool...credit to the lot of you...you made a middle aged man very happy...and extrememely jealous...thanks for a wonderful evenings entertainment....and next time Liverpool are 3-0 down in a European cup final...i'll remember to look out the window at the stars before taking a fvckin' Shower!
Heartfelt Congratulations from ALL at SWFC
