I didn't think the ball had completely crossed the line but who gives a sh.it. The ref should have given a penalty and sent off Cech anyway.  :pirate

Don't think the ref Lubos Michel would have point to the spot and send Chec away. In fact if not becoz of the linesman's decision, he would have wave play on and pretend nothing has happened (or that he tried to play advantage to Liverpool). That a*rse even allowed 6 minutes of injury time and gave every decision to Chelsea. Calvalho should be send off for persistant fouls but he didn't even reach to his pocket for a yellow or gave him a stern lecture.

But hail to the linesman for his brave decision  :bowdown  and justice was done after obvious bad referring cost us both the league games.

and to Roman...you bought into the wrong club, one with no loyal support base, no history and definately no class.

and to Jose, you came to the wrong country. Enjoy it while it last, for the reds are coming to claim back what's rightfully ours.

and to Gudjohnsen, god is wearing red tonight and we got your cut (ouch...how are the stitches?) and the miss  :rasp  to prove it!

and to Mikey...where is Real right now with the trophy count? too bad you prefer doing some bench time than having faith in Rafa. You would have probably your best season in your career here.

and to Stevie...remember your press conference about us not having a ghost of a chance to win the CL? please stay faithful and captain us to gloryland  :hearts

and all hail Rafa...obviously, he is the chosen ONE  :bowdown   :bowdown

Like I've said, if you'd have stopped play when the "goal" went in and asked Mourinho whether he'd prefer:

a) His keeper to be sent off and a penalty to Liverpool to be awarded

or

b) The goal to be given and no action to be taken against Cech

...he'd definitely have taken the option to play 86 minutes with 11 men. It didn't change their objective one bit - they still needed to score 1 goal to go through. If they can only muster 2 shots on goal in something like 195 minutes (adding in all the injury time) of football, that's their own hard luck.

And for the record, I thought it was a goal at the time, but the more I see replays the less I'm sure that the ball went all the way over. Not arsed one bit though - if it had happened in the 90th minute I'd maybe have a little sympathy for Chelsea, but the bottom line is that they just weren't good enough across the two legs. And if they're that poor without Duff and Robben fit and on fire, next season could be very, very interesting.

I think it was a goal saw a good few replays. If the goal wasn't given we would have got a penalty and Czech would have been sent off anyway

It was a goal because the scoresheet says so.

my gut reaction was that it was a goal, however, as the replays aren't clear it should not have been given. Czech should have been sent off and a peno awarded (if we'd scored that then much better than just a goal). I agree that I have a feeling that the ref wouldn't have given a peno if it hadn't been given.

The whole ball must cross the line and nobody could see that.

It is interesting to note that Gallas didn't make much of an objection, I think he believed it was over.

It was a goal - look at the reaction of the Chelski players - I didn't really see any of 'em complaining.  Great compromise by the ref - gave us a goal and didn't send off Cech - they had 92 minutes and £200m worth of players to get one back.  Dudek had one save to make over 2 games and Gudjohnsen blew it 94 minutes in.  6 minutes injury time - I nearly had a fookin heart attack.

also if you watch garcia's reaction, he's running away from goal looking back along the line, watching, and only starts celebrating after a few seconds - when he's seen it cross the line and before the linesman gives it.

GOAL!
