its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

I think the second half of this season will tell us where we're going under benitez. Let's face it, we've been done out of at least 3 or 4 points in the league by dodgy refereeing (Garcia's goals at Bolton and Boro, Izzet's handball off the line, two bizarre  dead ball calls to Man Utd that both resulted in goals, the freekick to McCann yesterday when he's got off the floor and held his hand up to apologise for doing a vieira), we should be on 27/28 points by now.

Then there's the injuries, and Owen leaving us 2 days before the transfer window deadline.

Basically, we're not gonna be this unlucky the second half of the season, we're starting to play well and to a pattern, with a settled side, with a key striker to come back and the funds to sign another in January.

Chelsea can't keep up this kind of form all the way through the season and Utd are still vulnerable, despite their recent form.

We're doing all right and I reckon as long as we can put a run together in the new year we'll be nearer to the top two at the end of the season than we are now. That should be enough for a CL spot and to persuade Stevie G that it's worth staying on for at least another season. For me, that's all we can realistically hope for, with maybe the Carling Cup and good fA Cup run as a bonus.

Interesting reading about Chelsea's supposed transfer window targets: Joaquin, SWP, Defoe. No mention of Gerrard, but if they do sign Joaquin and SWP, Duff's gonna be out of favour surely. And if they do overload their squad in the window, that's where they could screw up their own title challenge - like the Rodney Marsh effect at Man City in the early 70s.

For me, Arsenal will win the title, Chelsea will lose momentum in the new year, and Utd will be in and out of form. I can see us coming 3rd.

sorry to be a nark people i dont mean it honest   :D  but i think we've lost sight of the question. what i was interested in was people's reactions to Benitez if we dont finish 4th, not whether we will or not. will he still be "the man"

I did actually give you an answer.

And on the striker front, Baros and Garcia will both be back very soon, and we are likely to add a striker in January, so forgive me for thinking we have a strike force.

And people shoulden't ****** all over Mellor and Pongolle. Allright, Mellor ain't the greatest but he can do a fill in job, and when Pongolle's played as an out and out striker he has looked good.

Jim, for me Rafa is the man. For at least this season and next, he will be largely blameless for any failings. He's having to sift through the debris and rubble left behind by Houllier. Not only was Rome not built in a day, but clearing the land of all the rubbish took a bit of time as well.

I think we will have much better results after January. We are in the same situation we were last season to a certain point. We didn't get into the top four until March or so last year so I wouldn't worry about it too much. We are progressing one step at a time in every game.

it looks like we are only going to have £10 mil to spend in the new window and i dont think we are going to get a lot for that S Wright-Phillips looks like he is going to up for sale due to money prob at man city and we will not have enought money for him , i think that is a shame , so it looks like we will be set for some spanish rejects

What source tells you that we will have the same amount available to spend in January as Everton? How can it be that we and Everton can only spend 10 million in the transfer window. Who has more money us or Everton?

Spanish rejects? So Xabi Alonso is a Spanish reject eh? Wait he can't be possibly a Spanish reject when he himself rejected Real Madrid and decided to sign with us.

If we ONLY have 10MIL in the tranfer window I'll be well chuffed with that.

But I think we will have something closer to 5MIL or less. But in the summer we should be able to raise a lump sum for the manager.

You're statement makes it sound that Everton have more money than us. This has been blown out of proportion.

We have hired one of finest managers in football. This really was a coup by the club and we are lucky to have him. If we cannot succeed under Benitez then I really do not think that anyone could take us any further. I would go as far as to say that wherever Benitez takes us is probably as far as we can realisticly expect to be.
