Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Benitez wont get any serious criticism this season or next.Liverpool fans are knowledgable and realistic. As long as the team continues developing at a reasonable rate i think we`ll all be happy. The only real problem i can see is money.Benitez wont get nearly as much of it as Houllier got and that is a real pity.

I think Rafa will have to sell before he can buy, i would seriously think of having a clearout and starting next season with clear decks.
Too many of Houls signings were overpriced and not very talented - eg Bernard Diomede.. (4 mil)?. Too many remain who are a drain on the wage bill but have never shown consistant form for the team - i talk of Biscan, Smicer, Le Tallec, Pong, Diouf, ect ect ect.
Do we cash in now - or let them eventually leave on Bosmans over the next couple of years?

What do you mean by cash in? Do you think these players are wanted by other teams?

Why would Benitez sell Biscan after he has worked so much with him to try to show what the man is truly capapable of? Why would he sell La Tallec a player he was interested in signing when he was at Valencia?

Because even though they are game and spirited, they are not good enough.
(That is just my opinion)

You may think that but what does Benitez think? Clearly he will use Biscan as much as he can.

I agree, we have to use what we have but i dont see Biscan or La Tallec having a long term future at the club. I dont think we will win the league with either as the cornerstone of the side..

No I don't see the two getting a start but they are players that we can use when we are in striked by injuries. We have to have good enough replacements to get descent results when things go our way.

You have to admire Igor. Unlike certain other members of our squad, (Pongolle anyone?) he has got his head down, worked his @rse off and proved he could be a useful member of our squad.

Le Tallac was an absolute wonder kid, and we bought him for the right reasons, however his (french) arragonce, demanding a place in the side meant Rafa had to show him who is the boss. I think he will return after his year long loan a better player, and he will have put a bit of beef on (I thought he was a little lightweight) and will be raring to prove himself.

Igor took a hit for the Reds, yes the one right into the ad boards.  :D

talking of off the cuff injuries the worst i think was Phil Babb and his attempt to make love to the goal post at 90mph. every man in the land winced with pain watching that.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.
