Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby jim_morrison_supported_liverpool » Sun Dec 05, 2004 3:49 pm

1)  we have a new manager
2)  we are embarking on a new football style
3)  we have no strike force
4)  we have a lot of sh*te left from Houllier's reign (players i  mean
5)  we've got hardly any money to sort some of the above problems out
6)  we've had more than our fair share of bad decisions go against us

will we consider Rafa a failure if we dont qualify for the Champions league by the end of the season? or if we are 30 points off Chelsea.

i'm firmly adamant that Rafa's the man no matter what happens this season. its gonna be hard overturnin all those problems. to be truthful i dont expect us to qualify for the Champions league this season, because of all of the above. it does hurt to say that, but if we do qualify we'll have to have some amazing runs of form until the end of the season. that will be hard to do. i'm prepared to give Rafa time though as i am thurrily impressed with him.

Lets put it this way. We qualified for the 4th place last season mostly becos of owen's goals. If owen was still here, we would be deffo above blue sh***

On the other hand, If GH was here in place of rafa, god bless us all........

It is not really impt for me if we qualify for champions league or not (not sure for the board though). As long as we progress to attaining the valencia way of playing, i am prepared to wait.

I think we will qualify if we play like we played against arsenal,
I know we need the money from the CL but have no chance of winning it.
But we would go a long way in the UEFA cup.
Even may win it.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

If we get past Olympiacos, it wouldn't be the biggest surprise in the world to me if we went quite well. There are worse teams than us have got to the last four.
On the question of qualification this season, its touch and go. If we do great, if we don't we'll wait. Next season I think we might break into the top three.

I think 4th is a neccesity for us this year, we need the CL money to compete. As regards being 30 points behind the leaders... I am not really owrried about that because we are in transition and lets face it Chelski are awesome at the moment, as long as we are closer to 3rd position than last year I'll be happy enough

Not a chance he has drastically overhauled the Liverpool Football Club, not just the 1st team. He has given us hope for the future with the actually giving a ****** about Melwood, we have been playing exciting games with intricate passing and improving players.  I never expected Rafa to be half this good.

1)  we have a new manager - Yes we do.
2)  we are embarking on a new football style - Yes we are.
3)  we have no strike force - Your wrong, we do.
4)  we have a lot of sh*te left from Houllier's reign (players i  mean), - true, but they will be leaving.
5)  we've got hardly any money to sort some of the above problems out. - We have money, just not loads.
6)  we've had more than our fair share of bad decisions go against us - Its part of football.

If Rafa gets us in the Champions League and betters last seasons points total, it would be successful season. Even if he dosen't it dosen't mean he has failed.

I expect us to qulaify on Wednesday. Also I think we have as good a chance if not better chance as everyone else(obviosly not the "big three") to get into the champions league next season.

I don't know where all this doom and gloom has come from.

hang on a minute, how is this doom and gloom, despite what iwas sayin, i made a point of keepin up the good spirits cos i'm happy with Benitez.

and what do you mean we've got a strike force? where? in the hospital? sorry but they cant score from there. if yer gonna be picky and say "we've got Mellor and Pongolle" well okay, but that says it all.  and who says them players are leaving? where are they going exactly? and are you trying to sasy that we have enough money to but enough players even them sh*t ones did leave. tell me how much money we've got. tell me who we're gonna buy?    and yes, injuries and bad decisions are part of football, doesnt take a genius to work that out. my point was that we've had more than our fair share, and it nay affect out finishing position, so people should take this into account before judging Benitez so harshly.

Despite big changes pre season and also injuries to key players I still think we will finish 4th. I think we would take that now. Everton deserve great credit for the way they have performed so far but I would be surprised if they can maintain that level. Aside from Chelsea, Arsenal and Utd I have not seen a team any better than us. If we bring one or two new faces in January and get on a run I think we will take 4th at least.
