Morgan has the money on the table by Christmas. If he is successful, I hope he keeps Moores as Chairman (non-exec) to remind the Board about traditional LFC values and ensure that we always act fairly. But we do need a sharper edge to our business game, Owen should never have been allowed to back the club into a corner, £8m is peanuts.
Rick Parry should be retained, as experienced Football businessmen are hard to find, but he needs a sharper act. Morgan should be able to inject that. I think as a commited Red and Major Shareholder, we could not find a better source of Finanace and commitment to LFC. A major corporation, investing in LFC would only do it for the furtherence of their existing businesses, Morgan want's this because like us he cares about the club.

what i dont understand is? and if anybody could clarify this it would be great?....

ok morgan wants to buy the club well, take over the club with what say about £70 million, wont he have to use that to buy shares?
cos if hes planning on giving the money for the stadium which as far as i know were bout £20million shy, and then give rafa money for transfers this xmas, bout another £25 million (given todays transfer markets), then does that mean he will only spend bout 25million on the shares cos thats roughly all that will be left out of the £70,illion,
or is it 70million on shares and then start ploughing more money into the club for stadium and transfers?

how much money does this bloke have? theres no use spending all his money now in the first season and not having anymore money from his personal fortune to spend the following year! i like the fact that he seems a die hard red but i also think hes a bit gung ho in his approach and that he could do a leeds on us and really mess us up, in a way i feel sorry for moores he justs needs money cos hes sensible and stable and has always supported the managers and knew when it was time for houllier to go!

The crack, is £35m to buy David Moores shares, £35m from a rights issue for the club to spend on players and/or new stadium.
I think Morgan would like to spend as little as possible on the Stadium and was alarmed at rising estimates, £80m to £100m etc. now reported at £115m. He is in the construction game and knows that most large projects hava a history of finishing well over budget, so he probably sees figures well in excess of £120m.
I suspect Morgan would like as much funding from external sponsorship for the Stadium as he can.
He would can the new Stadium, but probably recognises the revenue earning potential of the new ground, just dosn't like the expense on the way.

What Morgan HAD to do, by law, is known as "due diligence" that means that he had to prove the reliability of the financial state of the business before making a bid.
These enquiries revealed the grossly overstated valuation by Moores & Co and it is this "being caught out"which has produced the big sulk going on now.
Gerrard's claim that it was Moores who made him stay was quoted about an hour ago on icLiverpool.
Mrs Morgan seems better clued up as far as business is concerned than the motly crew there now.

glad u made that a bit clearer cheers! i dont like this gerrard talk now, in my opinion hes giving himself an excuse to leave by saying he stayed cos of moores bollicks, he wont like morgan or some talk like that will be a stupid excuse and he will be off to chelski, he's being a bit of a snake these days i reckon, if he wants to challenge for top honors he should support a new bloke coming in and ploughing a few quid into the club for a new stadium and players, im just delight alonso is better than what we all expected! :cool:

Don't know how to take that ? Is Stephen saying that Moores was more important than what should have been the real reason for him staying ie THE CLUB .
Moores inherited his position and his investment has never been in danger, he's made money from LFC, it's cost him NOTHING!!! The club needs a pro in charge and when a successful supporter like Morgan is prepared to put his money where his mouth is we should welcome him with open arms.
The fiasco of the AGM was brought about because the board could no longer cover up the sad state we are getting in to because Morgan did his homework and knew the true state of our finances.
It is a joke that we are so far behind the mancs and the gooners in the money stakes when you consider the springboard that Shanks and Paisley left behind. We should have been so far out of sight by now that they would never have caught up.
If we are really going to be ambitious then the new stadium should reflect it and the capacity should be on par with the mancs. I would not trust the present crew with the resonsibility of building the new era for Liverpool and we should ALL support Morgan.

Moores paid 500k of his own money for his shares which is not alot but is more than nothing bull.

If and when he does sell his shares he will make millions to add to 1billion his family are supposedly worth.

If they are that rich I fail to see why he cannot invest as he claims to not have the cash

Morgan is a very successful builder but that has nothing to do with running a football club.

Morgan last night abstained on the vote on the ground share issue and has never once said he was against the idea.

I believe he does not have enough cash to invest in our own ground and only has enough to provide Benitez with about 30m to invest in players.

So short term Morgan's cash is great news as he will Benitez much needed cash to improve the team but long term chances are we will end up sharing a ground with the bluenoses. :angry:

If you don't want us to have our own stadium then by all means support Morgan.

Hopefully - if you can believe the news today - there is another option - which is being mulled over
So - watch this space
There is always the possiblility that if the Boardroom stays as it is - we may still be sharing a ground with the Blues - now that Government Ministers have joined the debate - and are asserting pressure from a certain perspective - so I wouldn't dismiss Morgan as not a possibility - because you think he's in favour of ground sharing???

thats a great point mate and something that i couldnt get my head around? exactly how much cash has morgan got!
i thought it sounded great in the short term alright, money in the bank by xmas, but we could end up like leeds selling everyone and ending up in the championship in a few years

i didnt realise he never opposed the groundshare either, i would never go to another game again if i knew bluenoses were sitting in my seat every second weekend :cool:

can margan not just invest a load of cash without taking over, cos i think moores and parry do know how to run a football club but just need someone for the marketing side, if we had peter kenyon we would be making millions, u gotta admire the guy hes a shrewd marketing businessman! :cool:

Morgan is not putting himself up as a new Manager but as the new Board leader and for that job I'd rather have a successful builder than some poor little rich boy who's no appreciation of the value of money.
As far as the ground share business is concerned a lot of people want to wake up and smell the coffee.
At present the mancs pull in about £1`5 million per home game more than we do. When the revolution starts proper and we are in the CL every year with a good chance of winning it, then we want to be able to seat the crowds that will come.
We need an 80k seater stadium and if it means that the bluenoses are renting their share from us then so what ? The club is not just about the ground where ever it is. LFC is the SPIRIT of the club. It would survive on its own regardless of who owns it or where we play and the reality of the modern game is that we cannot afford to miss the next boat. We've missed far too many over the past 15 years.

well if LFC IS THE SPIRIT OF THE CLUB we need our own spiritual stadium not a selhurst park effort! it just doesnt work,ac and inter milan share and its terrible! plus everton wont leave their own place to pay rent to us so they would have to have a lot of advantages to sell up as well! :cool:

Gerrard defends under-fire Moores

Morgan pleads for power
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has launched a fierce defence of under-fire David Moores as the chairman considers his future amid takeover talks.
Moores said he was considering his future at a stormy annual general meeting on Thursday.

But Gerrard said: "It upsets me to see the chairman getting battered.

Gerrard almost joined Chelsea in the summer, but said: "He doesn't deserve this. He was definitely one of the main reasons I stayed at Liverpool."

Gerrard added: "When I was having problems during the summer, it was the chairman who was ringing me up all the time and re-assuring me and doing everything possible to keep me here.

"He was in my thoughts when I reached my decision. It was a big influence on me.

"Okay, the last 12 months have not gone well, but you cannot just judge him on that. There are so many good things he has done for Liverpool.

"I do not think you will find another club anywhere where the players and chairman have such a special relationship."

Gerrard has fiercely defended chairman Moores

The Reds have also been courted by US and Thai interests and Moores said: "I am still considering Mr Morgan's offer and perhaps it is time now.

"I love the club but I cannot compete with Mr Morgan's millions."

Moores added: "This last 12 months has not been easy. It has been unbearable. I haven't slept and my family - it's difficult for them."

Meanwhile, Morgan, Liverpool's third-largest shareholder, said he had spent £300,000 in legal fees alone this year on launching his bids to claim a controlling interest.

He said: "It's been a lot of anguish and I do not like washing our dirty linen in public.

Morgan pleads for Liverpool power

"I would like to draw a line in the sand and move forward. I have got an offer on the table and you can have the money in the bank by Christmas to give money to manager Rafael Benitez and get the new stadium on the go. Please accept my offer."

Liverpool also announced a record loss of £21.9m at the meeting.

And the club's financial position has been complicated by the desire to move to a new stadium away from their Anfield home.

Finance director Les Wheatley said at the AGM that costs for the new stadium had spiralled to around the £115m mark.

Wheatley blamed the rising cost of the new stadium - which had been marked at £80m at last year's AGM - mainly on costs incurred during the delay in securing approval.

Earlier on Wednesday an American consortium claimed it had held talks over a possible takeover of Liverpool.

The L4 group said in a statement it had approached Liverpool's financial advisers Hawkpoint about either making an offer or investing in the club.

It is a consortium led by US-based film producer Mike Jefferies and lawyer Stuart Ford.

The consortium is thought to be backed by the Kraft family, who own Super Bowl champions New England Patriots.

They also own football side New England Revolution, coached by former Liverpool star Steve Nicol.

This was later denied by chief executive Rick Parry who said no talks had taken place.
